Please show us a picture of the VIN, in my opinion Ford never had a W Code in 68. Only the R Code with 428 CJ.

He's referring to the axle code. The W would mean a 4.30 rear end, not a factory 427.

4.30 axle for the 68 CJ is Y code. He has likely made an error and was thinking of the 69-70 4.30 axle code.
