Hi,

Try shifting earlier, say 5600, by the time you pull the stick you're close to 5800. You want that thing to be in the peak torque band all the way down the track. A 1/8 track is short, you don't need to rev the snot out of it. How much does it weigh? My 65 Comet is ~3000 with me in it, it has done 7.80 in the 1/8, with a smaller carb and a similar package. My best 60 foot time is 1.71, with 4.56 gears, traction bars and ET DOT drag tires. Start a spreadsheet and keep track of changes, times, temperature, BP, etc. Altitude Density makes a big difference in these cars, here in New Hampshire, the track is at 90 feet - I have run as high as 1843 and a low as -936 feet, on that same track. Have fun!
