Make sure you are getting a full pump stroke out of the accelerator pump. With the engine off and looking down the throat of the carb open the throttle medium-slow and smoothly. Is the pump shooting both sides and starts shooting when you first move the throttle? Is the shot continuing strongly through at least 3/4 of the throttle opening? It should do both.
