strange. my 69 didn't have a on the edge and it was just spot welded to the torque box where they overlapped. the torque box sealed that edge.

i'm probably wrong, but i thought the earlier cars did have the lip down since they didn't have torque boxes

here is a pic of the passenger side of my 69. at the top where the toe board continues up the firewall and above the torque box, the lip begins and folds towards the outside of the car. so there is a small hole that will eventually get filled with seam sealer. the line to the left of the edge of interest is where i had installed a patch. so the right side edge is original metal.

the lip that is folding up and spot welded to the rocker area is the upper torque box.

on the drivers side, i simply trimmed the "lip" off of the edge of the replacement toe board and plug welded it to the torque box. I assumed this lip was wrong for a 69 that had torque boxes since the panel was not correct for 69.
