I go on alot of road trips for cars/what works for me is lifesavers wintogreen; popping 2 at a time till I eat the bag. takes a couple hours and then you are good (I am ) for maybe up to as many as 19 hours striaght.. But I hate driving more than 10-12 hours for a car. My 1 son now is 18 years old and just past the road trip stage/although he will come if I beg and he can drive too.yeah.
I have a crew cab f150 4wd; I assume that trailer and with car on it maybe pushed the little guy around some; but certainly the truck can handle it.
LOL
good luck
Enjoy.
loving reading this.

You guys from the KS, MO area are gonna haveta help me out here, along some Interstate, maybe 40, or 70, from the South East, there is nothing out there but XXX porn shops and fireworks stands.

Seriously,..like every coupla miles or so, there was a Porn Super Store. At this point the co-pilot is up again,...I'm kinda trying to play off the XXX stores like I don't see them, yea right,...there are some serious porn dogs on that stretch of Interstate!!

Finally he breaks the ice,.."Dad, whats with all the porn stores"? We both break up laughing, "I really don't know Buddy". KEEP IN MIND THAT WE'RE FROM NEW ORLEANS,....SIN CITY, and there were enough XXX stores to make us comment!

It's stupid. We just took a cruise out of Galveston two weekends ago and made the drive down from Chillicothe, Ohio (19 hours 38 minutes) Wife mapped the route on the phone and it took us the Louisville, Nashville, Memphis, Little Rock route. I had overnight driving duty from Nashville to the Texas line and I noticed the same thing on 40. I'd never been in Arkansas before and just remember thinking that the interstate was really packed with porn shops and gentlemen's clubs.

Worst part about the drive is that my wife gets motion sickness when she isn't driving so I had to drive 55 miles per ****ing hour on I-40!

[edit]
Kansas City,MO is on I-29,I-35,I-49 and I-70, btw. 40 doesn't come that high. It heads through Nashville,Memphis,Little Rock, Oklahoma City then Amarillo and Albuquerque.

80 Muscort- "Wifebeater" (sorry if it offends. I didn't name it)
06 V6 Premium - "Hidalgo" (R.I.P. )
67 C-code Fastback - "Tombstone"

My Mustangs don't get chick names. They get horse names.

Driving at night, by yourself , with no other cars on the road gives you a lot of time to think,....in my case to think about what we may be getting into with this car. Maybe the rockers are rusted out, areas of the roof, front frame rails,...all the things that I didn't see and didn't really think to ask about because they're so obvious.

I still can't get past the fact that he's selling this so cheaply, originallly asking $500, then getting it down to $400,...parts car? I've been looking at a lot of cars, a lot of cars,...a lot of cars, basic complete rolling shells seem to be selling for $1,500 and up, mostly up. How is this a damn parts car, its not like I'm hearing about it word of mouth, he's got this advertised on CL and I'm the only one that wants it?!@

Again this cars sems to be just what we're looking for, a pretty straight body, with normal rust being OK. We'll be replacing the motor, trans, rear end, rear frame and flooring from the front seat back, full tubs will replace the back seat,...basically we want just a complete rolling shell.

The seller has been very straight forward with describing the rust and damage, if anything he's actually overstated the actual rust.

But what if,..............

Dude, we'll be there soon enough, if nothing more ithe trip will be a good / fun road trip with my buddy. Lots of good memories either way, but hopefully we'll come back with the shell that we need.

OK, sun comes up, much easier to drive and stay alert, but I'm really feeling like crapola, better take that second shot of 5 hr energy; big mistake,...we'll get to that in a little bit. It's sometime after 12:00 noon, we're about there, but at this point I've been up around 30 hrs, I'm a zombie minus the body parts falling off.

As we pull up we both see the car,...'Dad, dad, it's right there over by the lawn mower, it's got cool looking rims for a junker".

We pull up in the driveway to a reception of what must be 100 barking dogs,..probably closer to 2, but remember that second shot of energy,..I'm really in a bad pissy mood, very jumpy, nervous and sweating bad,..really bad,..pretty dizzy also.

Introductions all around and start checking out the car,..holy crap, this thing looks pretty damn good, all glass is in tack, as are all body panels. Typical rust in lower rear quarters, nice patch of bondo on the right quarter, pick at it and it's about 1/8" thick,..not bad. There is no interior, none, nota, zero, ziltch, and the floors are rusted through in areas, no suprise there.

THIS JUST WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR AND JUST HOW IT WAS DESCRIBED

How bad does he wanna sell it, he originally was asking $500 OBO, we agreed top $400 over the phone,..."Whats the least you'll take for it, how about $300?",..."Well you did come a pretty long ways,..yeas let's do $300.00".

Quick Tanner, lets load this baby up

Well, you seem to be committed now.
For $300, and some time + gas + rental of the trailer, you at least got your moneys worth in new experiences and pictures.

So what is important is under the car, get it as high off the ground on jackstands or wheel ramps and start taking pictures so we can tell if the subframes are OK.
I would purchase 4 jackstands, get a place you can leave it for a few years, get it up on the jacks, and start pulling the suspension first.
Presume it all gets replaced, come up with how much you can spend and how fast. If you are like me, it is a $ per month figure.

Surprisingly no rust on the frame,...supports are bent up so they'll be replaced for cosmetics only.

Only rust is floor pans and exterior surface rust.

Peeking inside to see just what we've got here, gotta lift up all kinds crap to get to the bottom. You won't believe whats in here, all kindas car parts, just not for this car.

Looking into the trunk from inside the car, no backseat, but maybe we can fab something up from all of the sticks back there, kinda Robinson Caruso style? "Tanner go get my string, duct tape and glue."

Was someone storing those sticks back there, on purpose, if not just how did all of them wind up there,..thats a sheet load of sticks!!

From underneath, these are the floor pan supports, pretty beat to crap,..they'll be replaced. Slow down for speed bumps,..whadda you mean?!

No real rust on the front rails on the far side, the other side looks as good, or bad,....whatever,.....looks much worse than it is, merely a flesh wound.
