Arvinode Exhaust ?'s & pics requested
I am getting to the point in my power-train upgrade process on my '66 Fastback (upgraded 289 towards HiPo spec w/4-spd toploader) to start thinking about hanging the Arvinode exhaust system. The correct HiPo H pipe is installed as part of my upgrades. I've done some searching and could not find any detailed pictures of installed systems and have some questions.
I'm looking for detailed installed system pictures from the H pipe to the rear that shows where hangers are installed and what type of hanger you actually used. I did see an Arvinode specific hanger system listed when I ordered my concours system through NPD but the hangers are showing back ordered status dating back to last July when I began researching. I also contacted Waldrons directly and they too do not have the kit available.
Clamped or welded? What is the preferred method, clamping or welding or a combination thereof? Detailed explanation would be very helpful. I will be putting in the GT trumpets as that is what my previous dual exhaust system had.
When I did a dry fit of my system this weekend, it appears as though the trumpets will be sticking out of the valance way too far. My thought is that the trumpet ends will need to be cut in order to fit for proper length. Does anyone have a picture of an Arvinode system with the trumpets to indicate how far out of the valance they protrude? What did you cut, the trumpet piping or the Arvinode piping?
Regarding the front muffler portion with the welded on rectangular "dampner" tubes, I've seen numerous pictures on the net showing different mounting applications. I've seen this "dampner" tube installed towards the underside of the car, installed towards the ground and installed at an angle in towards the driveshaft. Looking for an explanation of the proper installation of this particular portion of the system. Accurate pictures would be most helpful.
Any other tips, points of concern I should be aware of while getting installed? This will be my first attempt at working on installing a completely new exhaust system.
Thank you in advance.
