Default 66 conv top STACK HEIGHT

I have my top off the frame and have refurbed and rebushed the frame.
I am now adjusting it. Question: When all the way down, how far should the balance link be from touching the flattened portion of the wheelhouse.
The way was, it touched. It had not made holes in the top material in more than 10 years like that, but I don't have any idea how many times it's been folded down in the past.

Believe they touch. Why Ford even included some cheesy padding which probably was sufficient. Remember pirating a pair of them on a Northern "rusted in two(,almost!) 65 cvt and putting them on a 66 cvt with some padding underneath.

Yep, should go "all the way". Depending on how the material of the top sits it can bind up a bit, but the frame itself should lay right on top of the padding on top of the wheel well...

There is not much adjustment for the stack height, the balance link eccentric controls camber of the side rails, and the header adjustment to windscreen won't affect stack. The mounts to the body control a tiny bit of up-and-down, but mostly side-to-side. If way out it "can" cause binding, but that would be very odd.

The top and frame should be adjusted to "up" position and it will pretty much stack where it stacks. Not a lot of wiggle room as there are really very few adjustment points....

That cheesy padding is still there on top of tha mashed inner fenders on my 68. What seems to restrict the lowering/stack height on mine is the
original webbing between bow #4 and the body/rear tacking strip.

The wheelhouse in convertibles was a coupe wheelhouse with the top flattened in a press. However, this was often not enough, I have seen plenty of originals that looked as though they had been worked over with a big mallet, because they probably had.

The wheelhouse top pads for 64-70 and 71-73 have been reproduced for Glazier Nolan. Not so cheesy when new, although they are understandably thin, imagine the problems a thick pad would cause.

Just a heads-up ... I just received some 66 conv Quarter-Trim padding that I ordered from Mustangs Unlimited. Guess what? It's the EXACT same material, color, and thickness as the wheelhouse top padding discussed above. I ordered another set so I can cut out new ones.
