Good Afternoon, I am ready to paint my interior and my paint guy is having a hard time finding the PPG code for 65 interior white. I gave him the Ditzler code of 8612 as well as the Ford OEM code of 5767 and neither one shows up in his data base. Anyone got any ideas short of finding a PPG dealer who will help out? Thanks.

I did call the local PPG distributor and I gave him 8612 code. He told me the same thing my paint guy did, doesn't show in his data base. The PPG guy said he would look into it, I'm not sure what the issue is since Ditzler belongs to PPG. Any idea why the PPG folks are having a hard time with their own code? thanks, charles
8612 Might be an older Ditzler PPG code...and the guy is going by his computer that doesn't have the old code for some reason in the database. He will have to turn to the Ditzer PPG Microfiche to find the correct mixture. Have him cross reference this DUPONT code 9138L . That is the correct 1965 Ford Interior Semi-Gloss White Acrylic Laquer code... Although since laquer is no longer used, They will most likely give you PPG Polyurethane which is a the same color, but under a different number, Hence the problem at hand. He just has to dig a little deeper to do the translation from Laquer to Polyurethane... or possibly even Waterborne!!...which is used alot today..
Thanks Tony, the Dupont code might be the ticket. I think you are spot on with regard to the PPG guys just not digging deep enough. I'll let you guys know how it works out. Thanks! charles
I ended up talking to PPG direct and was told the formulas for older Ditzler PPG codes have been discontinued as those were laquer. PPG did tell me they do have updated formulas but they could be different codes for the same color depending on which PPG paint line is being used. Though I don't have an answer yet, I was told once I know which paint line my paint guy is using, PPG will be able to give me the formula to match the 65 Ford Interior Semi-Gloss White.
Yes, If you e-mail PPG directly, and supply them with the old code, PPG will do the crossreference over to the new code with whatever type of paint you go with.
I got the formula from PPG yesterday and it is for use with the Deltron paint lline. The only code I see on the fromula sheet is 90033. I haven't tried to see if the code will come up in any of the online data bases. At any rate, I finally have the formula to correctly mix 65 Ford interior semi-gloss white (I hope, we will see after it get mixed). Anyway, this endevor required quite a bit of research and the folks at PPG where very helpful, my hats off the them. I have to wonder what the rest of the folks are having to go through to find current paint line equivalents for the old interior laquer colors.
Deltron is good stuff. It is two-stage paint (Base Coat, Clear Coat). You will love the results.. I do not think that they have Deltron in Single stage. You might want to check on that.. It's possible that they might carry it.
My painter said he was going to use clear coat but was going to put some flatner in it to give the semi gloss finish. Keeping my fingers cross it comes out okay.
