Axle Code "6"

Anyone know what this code means? It's a '65 C code convertible, Dearborn car. It is an 8" as far as I can tell, and has 2.80 ratio currently. I need to replace the ring and pinion and want to make sure I get the right ratio for the car. Not sure if it's the original rear or not, the tag was rusted off. Axle code is 6, trans code is 1
