Default Where To Connect 3" Well Liner Spring

I have a 1966 Mustang Convertible and am trying to find out where to connect the 3" well liner spring in the trunk. I have seen pictures of how the early 6 1/2" spring connects but I believe my car should have the shorter 3" spring and I cannot figure out where it connects to. Does anyone have a photo of the 3" spring and how it connects? I have looked and looked and just can't figure it out on my own. Help!

Is that the one that goes in a small hole in the trunk hinge bracket and then hooks over a rod that goes from end to end through the well liner.

I bought the shorter springs because I have a late manufactured car and read elsewhere that in late 1966 they switched from the 6 1/2" springs to the 3" ones and I just can't seem to determine how the shorter spring hooks up.

Does anyone have a photo that shows exactly where this 3" spring hooks up to? Otherwise I wouldl only be guessing where to hook it to.

Did you not find the small hole for the spring in the trunk hinge.

OK I do see the little hole in the hinge. If that's where it hooks I will try to hook it there. Thanks.
