Cant say I wasn't warned. Many posts on VMF about poor quality of
solenoids available from the major Mustang parts guys.
I changed the solenoid in April to upgrade my engine compartment,
bought the most expensive one, Brown color, looked great.
About the third time I shut the car off, it didn't, I rapped it and the engine
stopped. I figured, it's new, maybe a little tight...has been OK until today.
I walked by the car in the garage and the OIL and GEN lights are on!
Popped the hood, the coil was warm, so it couldn't have been on that long.
Disconnected the battery, removed the solenoid and will be heading to
where I got it tomorrow to get a "most reliable" as their catalog describes
it, to replace this one. It won't be the "correct" one, but hopefully it will
be better quality. What would any of you recommend as a replacement?

I want to upgrade shocks all around. I have heard mixed opinions, I'm thinking of going with konis all around and 4.5 leafs but I don't want my ride quality to suffer too much because I will be doing a lot of cruising as well as a lil racing. I don't want to try to drive it through town and get beat to death! I have heard good and bad concerning the kyb gas adjust. But the funny thing is I'm going to spend an arm and a leg for konis and I still wont be able to tune them on the car I'll have to take them off to tune them just like the kybs so there's really no added convenience, so unless there just thy much better I might go with kyb-ga And the 4.5 leafs. Do you think that will be streetable. I've already got brand new uca, lca, strut rod bushing, coil springs, spring saddles for the front end would there be anything else I need before I start ripping it all out to replace

I have a 68 mustang with a c4 and a 302 out of an 86 thunderbird. My starter is on its way out Ive had to tap it with a hammer a few times and now its making a grinding noise for a second when I first start it up. SO i figure its time to get a new starter. I also have the stock ignition and coil. While im getting a new starter I figured it would be good to upgrade my ignition to have better start ups and idles. I want to buy the pertronix ignition and a flame thrower II coil. my question is, Do I have to buy a starter for a 86 302? Im guessing I do. Also can I put on the pertronix and flame thrower? I havent seen any for an 86 302. I see from 67-74 I believe. any help would be apprectiated thanks!

I am having an ongoing power steering issue. I have a 1969 351W with the stock power steering. When I bought the car, the power steering was fairly intermittent. I replaced the power steering pump and the power steering was fine. After about a month or two the power steering belt would squeal on a warm start for 5 to 10 seconds. Believing the power steering pump was bad, I replaced it only to have the squealing still occur. Additionally, if I drive the car hard enough the power steering will go out. It does return after the car cools down.

I have changed the belt of course as well as flushed the fluid.

What could be the cause of this issue? I don't want to randomly replace parts until I fix the issue.

Hey fellow vmfr's,

I am looking at replacing my water pump because my 302 is constantly overheating and I've figured out its not the thermostat, not the radiator, not the temp gauge, and not the coolant/water mixture, so it must be the pump. Can anyone tell me what the setup I have for the front of the engine came off of originally?

Thanks,
