Is this caused by the new repo weatherstripping, hinge adjustments or latch mechanisms? My car has new rubber and you really need to shut the door hard, its a 70 mach 1

My latches and all other hardware are new.

Does the striker plate have anything to do with this or the main culprit is the rubber weatherstrip?

What are the solutions, i hate slamming doors even on a new car it drives me nuts

I have a 1964 1/2 mustang I recently bought some unilug wheels thinking it wouldn't be an issue having them put on, I was wrong! I have cleaned them up and am now ready to put them on but can't find anyone locally that will mess with uni lugs. So now I'm needing help on exactly which washers and lug nuts I need and where to find them. I'm not sure the brand of wheel but I included a picture of the wheels so any help would be great. Thanks!!!

So I originally was going to always use 1 type of wheel. Then when I went to order it looked like they were out of stock so I started looking at other types of wheels.

Now the originals that I liked are back in stock but I am stuck now because I had found another wheel that I liked.

So what say the forum....these are the only choices ;)

Both wheels are similar quality and essentially the same price at about $650 for the pair. I have the MB wheels in all chrome on my 68 and they have worn well. The Boss wheels have a slight size advantage.

In MB I would be buying
17x8 4.5bs (they are out of stock on the 4.75 at this time but these would fit)
17x9.5 5.5bs

In the Boss I would be buying
17x8 4.5bs
18x9.5 5bs (I've kinda warmed to the idea of plus sizing in the rear and with this choice I can put a 26.5 inch tall tire on the rear)

Both wheels are grey centered (slightly different colors...the MB are a little darker) and both have machine lips for the dish, they look very similar with the difference mainly being chiseled looking spokes versus smoothed out, I think the MB has a slightly thicker edge lip, and screw on center cap versus a push on.

Cowl Hat Repair

So I'm continuing on with the rust removal on my '65 coupe and I finally got to what I think is the last of the last...the cowl hats. Here is my...

So I'm continuing on with the rust removal on my '65 coupe and I finally got to what I think is the last of the last...the cowl hats. Here is my delima, the cowl and firewall are rock solid. They have very little surface rust at all. Strangely enough, even the areas around where the hats connect to the cowl itself is solid. The only part that is rusted and I mean like gone is the lower portion of the hat riser itself on both sides. So I took a die grinder with cutoff wheel and cut both risers out flush with the top surface of the lower section of the cowl. So now what to do?

My first thought was to do the plastic repair kits but I just don't like them.

My second thought was to design a similar two piece hat in sheet metal, have the flat flange laser cut or water jetted then roll a sheet for the hat section riser and tig weld the two together solid for proper sealing. I would then attach using a silicon based rtv sealant.

I really can't see tearing apart a perfectly good top or lower cowel for this repair. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I would also say I think I have read everything on the forum about cowel repair.

I've always had issues getting my Richmond Street 5 speed to shift at high RPM and at the strip last weekend I had to drop it to 4500 to get it to shift ANY gear. Richmond is telling me I need 0.070 air gap but I can't figure out how I measure that. There is a little inspection hole in the bottom of my aftermarket bellhousing, but all I see is pressure plate through it. It might be to snug the pressure plate bolts. It's after hours so I can't ask them and I'm jonesing to get this done tonight.

What's the trick?

Thanks all!

I have done so many searches here on individual parts of restoring a mustang and have learned so much. I just wanted to start a thread that I could talk to you guys about my specific car and what I want for my car.

I have a 1965 with a 2 barrel 289. I bought the car over 12 years ago and it has sat in the New Mexico desert until about a year ago. I will post pictures of her once I get into my photobucket account again. Goals for the car are: driven 100+ days out of the year, drag strip a couple times a year and maybe one road course event. Most of the suspension parts (upper and lower control arms) have road grime built up on them and I am not sure how much of a benefit it would be to completely replace them with new parts or just rebuild what I have.
So what are your thoughts on starting with the suspension and what are the first pieces I should get? My suspension budget is about $1,000.

Chevelle and Chevy Truck guys may recognize my user name from other sites. I registered because by daughter just got a 65 A Code Coupe. In 1985 we restored a 67 Mustang together when she was in high school. She sold it after she got married and has always wanted to get a replacement. I will let her tell the story when she joins, car is original except for a bad repaint and two small rust spots in the doors. Looking forward to restoring it with her.
