What is your experience or opinion on car covers? Some background. Live in the San Francisco bay area so it does not get really hot or cold. No garage so the two mustangs, '68 convertible and '68 fastback, sit in the driveway between two story houses. Means they are not sitting in the hot sun all day but do get some. When we got the convertible painted we mentioned that we were going to get a car cover and the guy said not to. Gets too hot under the cover and is bad for the car. So, we did not get one but I'm tired of washing one day and having them look dirty two days later. What about during winter? Holds the water in and causes mildew? Just got the fastback back from the painter and want to do it correctly.

Im going to possibly swap cams with my brother. I built a motor for him a few years ago which was a late model 5.0l engine. I bought the cam for the engine.

He still hasn't finished the engine yet, and said he really doesn't want a cam as radical as the one in the engine.

Im going to visit him next week and I have an old Crane hyd flat tappet cam that I was going to swap into his engine and get his cam and lifters for a motor that I have.

I know that I will have to buy the lifter hold down spider for my old 302 to make the lifters work in that old block, but I know there is something about base circles that I always have to tell the cam people when I build an older engine 302/351w with roller hyd lifters.

Will these swap or not, and if they will what will I need to make it work?

I've read some threads on here about you guys doing that, and think I may need to do that with my repro door (And possibly fender). My question is, I only need the gap enhanced near the bottom (Or top, but either way) and only a slight amount. So do you still weld the rod on the complete distance and grind it down? How do you prevent it from becoming a sharp knife edge, and instead a nice smooth rounded folded crease?

I've never had any experience with these before. Any advice to loosen them besides taking it back to the garage? They're American Racing Wheels. It. Won't. Budge.

My home came with stained oak cabinetry in the bathrooms and kitchen but it's now a dated look and SWMBO and I have talked about painting it however I'd like to avoid brush marks but don't have a sprayer. Will a spray can product (Krylon) be acceptable? If so, do I prep the cabinets with a TSP wash, fine sandpaper scuff, spray primer and then the color? I'd expirement on one of the bathrooms first. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

So I've found a warm shop to work in over my Christmas Vacation, so I'm going to start my interior conversion from Black to Parchment for our '67 Convertible. The first step is to remove the interior panels, and dash trim so I can paint the interior door panels, lower dash, and steering column. Since I do not have access to either a sprayer or and HVLP system, I've opted to do the best I can with the SEM paint available from NPD.

What I'm trying to determine is how much paint will be required to do the interior. I only want to order once.

Thanks,

SWMBO presented me with a gallon of paint, because she felt the family room needed to be a new color for Thanksgiving, to harmonize with the kitchen that I finally refinished. Ordinarily, not a big issue to paint a room, but the family room has 27' ceilings and a series of 3 ribbon windows, plus regular windows, and a pair of French doors.

In her defense, she is doing a 3 color fade paint job in, off all places, the laundry room.

What "projects" have been added to your plates for the holidays?

Best track car daily driver for under $15k?

I have a Toyota little 93 truck for a daily driver, and I have been wanting to get something fun for a daily driver and still be able to enjoy it at the drag track and once In a while course track.

I was looking at getting something for about $15k and quick fun stock or something cheap and make it quick with mods but staying under 15k total.

I was looking at 89-93 5.0 coupes, but hArd to find low miles coupes, maybe chp 5.0 I hear they Are quick with few mods

then I'm thinking 99-04 GT mustang with low miles unmolested

or maybe spend a bit more and try to find a cobra 00-04 with la miles, but not sure if these Are easy to find for under $17-18k or a saleen might be cheaper but most don't have SC i think

my other option I was thinking M3 01-04 I know I can find one at insurance auction for about $11k with some damage and fix it up, or clean title for around 16-17k

basically I'm looking for best track daily fun car for the buck, what you guys think?

So my projects have been moving along, but much SLOWER than I would like. It seems like with the demands of work, family and life in general the cars don't get as much time as I would like to move them ahead towards completion. Every so ofter I get a good spurt in when I can get out to the garage for a few days in a row and make some progress, but then I can go serveral weeks or even months without getting anything done. I usually work on the cars on the weekends, but there always seems to be other stuff to do. I've done a bit during the week, but usually by the time the kids are in bed I'm too bagged myself to turn the heat on in the garage and spend a couple of hours out there. I also find that in order to make real progress, I need to spend at least a few hours in the garage and preferably a whole day - if I can only get out for a 20-30 minutes it hardly seems worth it.

So what about everyone else? How do you schedule your time? One morning on the weekend that is sacred and nothing else comes first? 30 minutes a day every day? Book a week off work and spend the whole time in the garage?
