Interesting use for old paint

Was at a local hobby store this weekend and one of my nieces brought up this subject.

The Anthropocene's Best Gem Is Made Out of Old Car Paint - Atlas Obscura

Needless to say I had never heard of this.

Did a search and nothing came up so I thought I'd share these tibbits of information.

I had a friend who was into this. I never knew it had a name. I just knew he would make some nice stuff out of paint he chipped off the stands. Some of it looked just like something that came out of the ground.....some of it looked like it came right out the Hendrix Experience! (did I just age myself?)
