Chris has decided we need another trip to Hawaii. Of course I am being forced to go.
2 Years ago we spent 14 days seeing Ohau, Kauai, Maui, and the big ilsand. We relaxed on all the islands except Maui. We planned so many activities that we never saw the island, and didn't go to Hana
We will spend 7 days on Maui and I wondered if there were any VMF folks there, and if anyone had recommendations...we are going to book a condo in Kihei so we can be centrally located.
We plan to snorkel/scuba Molkini and lie on the beach...any other ideas of out of the way places to go
Mahalo!!

The best beach is along the Ka'anapali shore. Seriously, check it out. They also have great shopping over there (so the women folk tell me).

When in Hawaii, do as the weather dictates. Molokini crater is superb, if you have not done so already, I recommend the boat the Maki Kai, they aren’t this big ol conglomerate, try and entertain you the entire time nauseating ship. It’s also a good idea to have a watch on as your allowed only so much time to snorkel and get back to the boat.
They serve good deli sandwiches and fruit and get you where you need to go.
If doing the Road to Hana start earlier then you even deem necessary. A good resource book is the ultimate guide to Maui (a must read), then plan from there, it makes for a more enjoyable vacation. The next time I take the road to Hana it will NOT be a one day excursion (no pun intended). I will make sure to book one night at the Hana hotel so I can see more of that side of the island.
It takes soooo much time to just get over there and back. OBTW one of the side trips on the road to Hana that you may want to see is “blue pool”. IF you decide to go see blue pool and walk on or any where near the rocks make absolutely positively sure you have sticky footwear and a good helmet that covers most if not your entire head!
I went to see it and dive in the water, at one point I was DEAD STOPPED, just standing there getting ready to take a picture. The next thing I know I was on my back looking up at a clear blue sky! I was really quite lucky to avoid injury, the rocks are that slick with slim.
I envy you, Kihei is my favorite place in the world, the desert of the Hawaiian islands.

Got the book...and we are staying one night in Hana. I planned to go to Hawaii once...this is the second, so we will see as much of Maui as we can and still relax.
The restaurant is on the "to do" list.
Thanks for all the recommendations

Do the Maui Downhill. They pick you up at the hotel at something like 4am and drive you to the top of the highest point in Maui to watch the sunrise. It's like watching sunrise on Mars since the mountain is above the tree line (it'l be 40 degrees or less but they dress you up in stuff).
Then, you ride bikes with motorcycle brakes down the windy mountain roads. Easy, fun, breathtakingly beautiful. Around each corner of the road is a waterfull or some other beautiful view.
Haven't done it in 12-13 years so it's probably hugely expensive but still my favorite thing I ever did in Hawaii. Hana Highway is pretty cool but you'd better rent a jeep to try it.
