The 235/70/16 tires on swmbo"s tribute are probably the worst tire for noise and vibration I have ever owned, they wear great though, I crank up the radio so I don't have to hear them--I looked up the reviews for them in tire rack and I see I am not alone on this assumption--wow are they ripped there. I have had them routinely rotated and balanced to no avail. I would advise anyone looking for suv tires to steer clear of these--Kumho here I come.

FWIW my dad and sister run Michelin LTXs on their Explorer and Escape, respectively. They're quiet, handle well, and wear long.

Our companies estimator had those on his Escape and they were the noisiest, junk tire I've ever seen. He replaced them with something else and the vehicle is fine now.

If you get a second punch in 235 70 16 contitrac into the tire rack site and read the reviews---page after page of crap reviews---mine have great tread depth left but I am taking it for a 2-3 thousand mile trip this summer and I will have new tires on before that---kumho solice have great reviews for their tires.

Continental tires are junk, period. I really wish we would stop putting them on our vehicles.

As Spidey said, you can't go wrong with Michelin tires, they make an excellent product.

Hard to argue with the Solus for the price and the reviews though.

Yes, Conti-tracs are CRAP We yanked them off SWMBO's Mercury Mariner at 20k miles because of the NOISE. I'd also recommend an alignment check, as ours was way off...

Take a look at Yokohama HT-S's at Discounttiredirect.com - VERY happy with those! $383 a set right now w/free shipping.

My expy came with those. After about 30,000 miles they were only about half worn, but they produced a hard ride, noisy, and dangerous on wet pavement. Tossed them for Michelins, I'm now on my second set. Great tires.
