Default Best Filter Wrench For Motorcraft FL-820S?

Does anyone know of a company that sells an oil filter wrench that fits the knurled end of a Motorcraft FL-820S? My dad just bought an 08 Explorer with the 4.6L V8 and a normal band-type wrench won't fit. He's looking for the type that fits over the end of the filter like a big socket, but all he can find are the ones with flat sides on them like for a Fram filter.

I use channel locks on my wifes 06'. You can try that or: slide a peice of wood up there with the old O/F wrench to take up the space.

I don't remember if I got mine at Advance or Auto Zone but it fits the filter and has a spot on the end of it for a 3/8 socket rachet.

I got an oil filter vice grip from Harbor Freight. Don't know how it would work on your particular filter, but it works great on the Mustang.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. My dad ended up finding one of the "big socket" type filter wrenches at Pep Boys that fist the FL-820S.

Todd,
I use a nylon 1" strap on the Marauder.
I
Make a loop, put it around the filter and pull the end that turns it the way you want to go.

I think it's from a Burton snowboard or boot or something like that!

Works excellent!

Speaking of the Marauder, did you get that motor built yet?

Built?
No.
I installed a FRPP Aluminator Long block. While I was at it, a new 4r70w from BC Automotive and a 2800 stall converter.
I may be at Montana West Friday..... maybe.
