SWMBO though she would be nice and wash my work jacket for me yesterday. When she told me it was in the washer, I sked her if she checked the pockets, she said there was nothing in them. I suddenly got a sick feeling when i realized that I had left my company cell phone in the pocket. I immediately opened up the washer, pulled the jacket out and retrieved a dead phone from the pocket. It had already gone through the prewash cycle. I pulled the battery out and took a hair dryer to the phone. I let it sit overnight, and believe it or not, it still works. At least for now. I plan on telling my boss what happened, and let them decide whether or not to chance it. I can't do my job without a phone, since I get calls all day long to let me know what needs done. I am a mobile mechanic, with 5 crews under my care.
SWMBO felt awful, she even offered to let me slap her around for washing the phone. I have never hit a woman, I'm not about to start now.
I had a cell phone incident once that was pretty annoying. I had paid insurance at about $4 a month for about a year and half. Phone just up and died, stopped working. Figured I would just roll into my cell place and leave with a new phone. Nope, they asked for a $70 deductible. $4 x 18 = $72. Plus $70 deductible. ~$140 for a new phone. ugh.

My friend once dropped his cell phone in the toilet, during useage may I add. He fished it out, let it dry out, and it worked! He used it until his contract was up and he qualified for a new phone. Needless to say I never was one to ask to use his cell phone!

Well here's another side of it. I have washed two of my son's cell phones thus far ( he's 13 now)
Both times they showed themselfs in the dryer, the first time he complained but I explained too him it wasn't my job to go through his pockets if it's in the wash it goes in and be dam glad you don't have to do it yourself. He than was informed if he wanted it replaced he would have to come up with the money to do so. He also thought that was unfair............. I said get used to it. He than 2 months without broke down and worked around our business and earned enough for his replacement.
The second time it happened his response was so when can I start working in off.
Of course non of this applies to your situation but just thouht I would share.

thats classic I did the same thing! although mine got retrieved with a pair of grippers and went into the trash it wasnt pretty. told the lady at the cellphone store I tried to turn my phone into a submarine and it didnt work so well.
Your biggest issue, if it still works, is that it is a "walking wounded" phone. There is an indicator button inside the phone that changes color when it gets wet, so it is clear at the refurb centers, that it is a water victim.
It could work a day, month, year, forever, but when it goes, it is working, then dead.
You might start scouting out a replacement of the exact phone, on line like ebay and such. SWMBO dropped hers in the throne, and I found the exact same phone for less than $30 on ebay, including a battery, and bought it. Her old phone worked for about a week and then died. Turned out, it was the battery that was water fried. By then, had the replacement in hand, and switched SIM cards and everything was fine.
I went to the office at work yesterday and told them what happened. They told me it was no big deal, if it quits, they'll give me a new one. The battery may be bad, it didn't hold a charge very well yesterday. I'll try it for a few days and see what happens.
My daughter's phone went through the wash a few years ago. I put it on top of the water heater for the warm temp to dry it out. Worked fine after that.
