Fun to drive in either alpine or tiger. More fun as a tiger, but the 4 banger is ok too.
Go get it. It looks like it is is awesome shape.

If I recall correctly, in order to turn one into a Tiger clone, in addition to the engine and some other miscellaneous parts, you need a special steering box that's damn near impossible to find.

Use rack and pinon. They are light enough you can use a manual one. If you are doing to conversion, you can add just about anything you want to the under side.

The Tiger purists tend to frown on "Algers", but a properly modified Alpine would be a really nice car. And, it's a rare day with one of those when you see yourself driving down the road, like I do with my Chev minivan every day.....
Love those little cars. Nice wood dash, awesome cool shifter rising out of the tranny tunnel, and a great sound out of the twin pipes.
With modern cooling rad systems, axle tramp bars, most of the original's issues are easily solveable now. Only real drawback is the need for 13 inch wheels (IIRC), as the wheelwell openings just aren't that big. But a good set of Minilites really looks great on those cars.

don't mean to hijack the tread, wolfeman...witch headers did you use for the 351W in the 65 ? and beautiful job!! thanks... there is a guy here in the foothills near colfax off the 80 that has 3 tigers....cool cars! Jim stang@coolmustangs.com
Jim,
They're Hooker Super Comp engine swap headers, the ceramic coated ones. Most expensive set of headers I've ever bought but they fit great.
