I am new here and never got a chance to see or experience the old VMF. I have to say that overall I am very impressed with the community here and the kind attitude everyone seems to have. Second I think the functionality is decent, but could be improved:
* the read post issue
* the way you subscribe to a thread could be simpler... maybe I am just lazy but i do not want to click for a menu, then choose an option, then another option from a drop-down and then be redirected back... is there an easier way to subscribe?

Other than that overall the functionality seems decent but i do worry if some threads may have been ruined in the upgrade based on some of the comments here.

The prices are way too high for the features, and I would not pay them -good to know someone else feels the same. Those are the highest I've ever seen.

I am satisfied here and enjoy the forum greatly... these are simply my thoughts. The best thing is the community here hands down.

is there a good reason that the icon shown i the legend shows the same icon for "Hot thread with new posts" and "Hot thread with no new posts"? Could this be part of the problem with posts being seen as read? See below....

Am I missing something? Please help me.

New posts Hot thread with new posts No new posts Hot thread with no new posts Thread is closed You have posted in this thread

Cool

Nymustang- It is not a matter of not being able to enjoy this format, it is a matter of there are things that don't work. The colors are horrible and I know there is something that can be done about that. It is way too bright! Sometimes I am in a dark Hotel room or lobby and the thing lights up the whole room and makes me have to squint. Other forums that use this software allow the user to change the colors. If there is a way to do it here, I haven't found it.

Oh, and as I read this I had the first problem with the unread threads showing as read. Never happened to me before, so I was quiet on the issue, thought there was just a setting on the other guys CP to fix it.

Brian and Stan, you guys especially should be more understanding. Guys, don't belittle people for expressing their issues and concerns. You guys have been here since before me and I know you guys like to cut up a bit, and most of the time that is rather fun, but this time, I feel you should understand and try to do what you can to help.

sorry to anyone who feels I have offended them.

Have a nice day!

Mel

PS. And yes we will all get used to this new format and all will be well again, and yes the next upgrade people will miss this one. Myself included. MH

PPS. Oh, one more thing that drives me insane on other forums and just found it here, I get logged out when I read a thread and when I respond, I get to log in again just to reply. MH

Mel, thanks for your concern. I really can't do a whole lot. These things are more with the Super Grand Poobahs not just us Super Moderators. LOL And BTW, that was just a bit of humor. Are we still friends?

The gift horse picture was pretty funny, but I have to agree it's a bit condensending for us newbies who don't know all you old timers. I'm sure we'll all survive if there is humor like that around here.

Maybe you Super Moderators can see that the concerns of the members are sent to the Super Grand Poohbahs? I'm sure some of it already has.

All the techincal stuff will get worked out, but I really think the cost thing is a serious issue. But I guess I already said that

I am here for the people and the info they provide. So, whatever the medium we need to use to facilitate that, I will get used to it.

I do notice more new members here since the change, but maybe that is because it was pointed out so many times now. Many of the old members seem to be here, although the post volume seems to be down. I sure hope we get through this because I really like VMF!

Agree that the subscription prices are outrageous. I used to pay the $25 a year to help support Bob and in return I had access to the classifieds and a couple other small things. To me it wasn't about the functionality benefits but it was about supporting the site. I'm not about to pay $120 for a year...

$120 a year where I'm afraid if I post something, it might be taken offensively and deleted. Nah, I'll pass on that.

Oh, Brian and Stan, we are still friends. You guys know I speak my mind and when that is done, all is well again.

Maybe the new owners will fix the prices. I am not paying $120. I might go $25-50.

Thanks. It's kind of like yelling at the waiter for a bad dinner.
