Keep in mind that I put the support offerings together as a way to thank those who were donating anyway. It was a way for folks to get some recognition for helping me out, and get a few features that I could do with the old forum software in the process.

I agree that the situation has changed and that dynamic no longer exists. The AF guys carried over our model probably thinking that is what folks here wanted.

I would imagine that things will change over time, but for now there are some basic functional differences that I agree should be worked out so that a basic user can still get all the things done that make the forum useful for the user as well as those reading.

I have basically no time for the forum lately as things are rocking at Red 5 and I have been buried (which is a good thing). I will see if I can start an e-mail dialog with some of the AF guys and give them some perspective on where some of this all comes from so they can help out.

At the end of the day, the AF guys have done a great job. I know how much work it was to get the user database, and all the posts and structure all converted over into the new software (which is DRASTICALLY different than the old one).

I'm sure most of the issues will get addressed. I'm equally sure that the new software will pay dividends for all of us going forward (I can't reiterate enough that I was going to switch software as well, and I doubt I would have done it as thoroughly as the AF guys did).

How did I miss the fact that the VMF had been sold? I too thought it was just another upgrade.
Bob, thanks for all the great years!

Bob-I know how hard it is to run a site. I'm new here but it appears you did a great job.

I got word back from the owner over at IMBOC. Right now he is only offering a $22 rate that offers all the basic/normal website access. The higher rates went up to $37 and they included stickers and t-shirts. Right now the t-shirt supplier went out of business so only the lower level is offered.

Hopefully the AF guys will understand the benefit to a lower priced membership.

Geez guys. The only thing that made VMF great for all those years was that it was like a family. Now we're acting like a dysfunctional family, squabbling over a bunch of petty stuff. The software changed. The ownership changed. But it's still the same group of people it always was, with the potential for many, many more, unless we scare them away with our whining. VMF always was and always will be what WE make it.

OVER? IT AIN'T OVER UNTIL WE DECIDE IT IS!

Hey guys:

Thanks for all your input. We do not take such comments as criticism and look forward to continued dialog to improve the VMF board. I have asked for updates on a number of the technical issues that have been raised and will report back to you as soon as I have any news.

With regard to some other points raised:

1) PM Storage Limits - Free subscription is raised to 50 PMs, Bronze to 100... effective immediately. Other levels remain unchanged.

2) Premium membership pricing and structure will be reviewed.

3) Advertising levels - Please note that the number of ads visible is reduced once you are logged in.

4) We will check on setting up Google search shortly as an alternative.

Oh, and just one other thing... and I hope that you folks don't take this as a criticism. If your current comments had been posted in this thread: MEMBER NOTICE: Please log Bug Reports here , we could have responded sooner.

Regardless, thanks for your input and suggestions. We understand that your objective is to make VMF a better place, which is exactly the same as ours. Stay tuned here...

Did Bob "SELL"? As in make on profit on the VMF name?

Don't care either way, just wondering. If he did, more power to him. He created a great forum.

You can set your default thread subscription mode in the User CP. Go to Edit Options and scroll down to the second box...

Default Thread Subscription Mode

In here you can change the default to whatever you want, so you'll only do the clicking for something that is different.

Thanks... Don

3. POSTING PICTURES, I went to review a post I made some time ago Help installing convertible inner rockers on a 65 Mustang Coupe there were 3 pictures of an issue I was having with an inner rocker, they are gone now!

Some Responses:

Item 2 - Suggestion from the developer: "This is possibly an issue with his cookies. He can try deleting all the cookies he has for *.vintage-mustang.com, restart the browser and hopefully the topics marked as read will work correctly. I have tested this on my own account and it appears to function correctly."

Item 3 - This should be corrected now. It is in the quoted thread above. If anyone else has problems with this that are not resolved now, please post in this thread: MEMBER NOTICE: Please log Bug Reports here

Hey Mel:

Check the "cookie" settings in your browser. If they are tightly restricted, try "Allow all cookies" first to see if it resolves the problem. If so, then tighten up stage by stage until the problem comes back... then back off one stage.

I no longer have the problem with every sub forum being marked read ever since I come straight to http://forums.vintage-mustang.com.

Starting at http://www.vintage-mustang.com seems to make the software think I visited each sub forum making an appearance in the Recent Activity list.

Don,

Thank you, I know I started this thread a little harshly, but is was vey frustrating. I know the job of admin is mostly an un-thanked one, so I understand your side of the equation. I hope the other threads with missing pictures are fixed as well. I still would like to see users able to post 2 or 3 pictures in a post without having to subscribe. There are just some questions that can only be made clear with a picture. I feel it would help the forum greatly. But that is the admin's decision.
