Guys, yes things have changed, but they always do and always will.
Except for the lower rear quarters rusting ...that'll never bloody change! hehehe
When this site gets bought out by "tata" and the admins type in broken english, that's when we can complain! hehehe ... free poppadoms with every bronze subscription ...
I still would like to see users able to post 2 or 3 pictures in a post without having to subscribe. There are just some questions that can only be made clear with a picture. I feel it would help the forum greatly. But that is the admin's decision.
Rusty
Hey Rusty:
The problem was a technical one, not an admin decision. I agree with you that being able to post pics can help.
Hey guys...Thanks for all your input...Oh, and just one other thing... and I hope that you folks don't take this as a criticism. If your current comments had been posted in this thread: MEMBER NOTICE: Please log Bug Reports here , we could have responded sooner...
Don
Don,
We always sounded off anywhere, 'cause we knew Bob was reading near all our posts and he'd see it shortly.
Don, if you have a Mustang, tell us about it. If not, jump on in and get one, the water is fine! We'll help you get it squared away - it's a GREAT hobby with lots of friends and things to do.
And then you'll know how we got addicted to this site to begin with...

Check the "cookie" settings in your browser. If they are tightly restricted, try "Allow all cookies" first to see if it resolves the problem. If so, then tighten up stage by stage until the problem comes back... then back off one stage.

I am not sure how to quote stuff in the new format yet. I should because it is very much like a couple other forums I am a member of. Also has been a long day on the road and sitting around, so I am tired.
My question to Don is; I am not comfortable with reducing my security options to fix this issue. I also don't see how my security settings would log me off when it seems to be timed on your end. I have two other forums that look like they use the same software you do and I get logged off one and not the other while reading threads or typing long responses. So it would seem to me a former ISP Admin that there is a idle setting on your end. I could be wrong and don't want to come off as a hard you know what, so please don't take my bluntness as that. As said above I am a bit tired right now. So can you explain your theory in a bit more detail and maybe how you reached it?
I am just a bit curious and maybe I didn't articulate myself well enough before.
Also, Don, can you do something about these colors? Maybe an option in the CP like other forums that allow the user to change the color scheme? I am in a Hotel room right now and have to have the lights on in my room to view the forum instead of just the computer. The colors are just too bright unless the lights are on.
I hate to be picky and try to just go with the flow, so, sorry if this is too blunt or picky. I know first hand how hard your job is and how when things are running along well, you get no credit, but when things are not right, well you get the blunt end of the stick.
To Don and all, Have a great VMF day! FYI, I think I will after many months actually get some Mustang time next week, and this should temper anything I don't care for about the changes.
Mel
PS. That's the ticket, Mustang time! MH

Can I shut off the sig pics? Many people have them too big and it takes a long time to load on some of these crappy connections I get. I hate4 waiting for their pics to load and then resize.
Thanks in advance,
Mel

I now do not see the pics that are too big....Or any size for that matter....

I realize there are going to be changes because the forum grew so large and all the associated things that go with that.... Personally, I don't think the "family" atmosphere will be lost, despite the advertising, new ownership, subscriptions, and so on. We all are the same people, topics will always be generated, friendships formed, etc..... The only way I see losing the family feel is if all the current members left and the family was broken up.
With that said, I consider myself (twotoots2) a former family member that is gone. I've been an active member of the VMF since July 2001, had 3808 posts and was well into my Carpal Tunnel standing. Have been to two Corn Feeds and have made many many good friends because of the VMF. I documented a complete restoration of a 65 Mustang from start to finish over 4-5 years here on the VMF. After a hiatus for a couple of years, I came back. Wanted to share the restoration of a 68 Mustang with you all.
Since the change over, my user name has been lost, for some reason. Don has responded to some of my inquiries to fix my name, but to no avail. I've sent e-mails, PM's, posted several times in the Bug thread, and have tried to hound poor Don to fix my name. Its been a month (or close) with no resolution yet. Why other user names could be fixed and mine not, could be something I'm not doing right. I've tried many different things on my own to try to get my old name back, and it hasn't worked.
Meanwhile I'm twotoots (just left off the 2). A new junior member, who lost his identity here. Yeah, most people can make the connection between the new me and the old me, but why should they have to do that? I know the administrators are busy with fixing bugs and doing other things...I just can't see why its so difficult to get an old username back up. And that that should be a top priority.
I'd be happy to pay to be a member here, but as twotoots2, NOT twotoots. I'm having a difficult time being excited about the VMF when the administration can't seem to fix a simple login problem and it drags out to the point I get the feeling (maybe false) that they really don't care, that maybe I'd just go away and leave them alone....

Unfortunately, its one of those things that has changed and that is that I have to rely on the local staff and the members to make sure that important issues are pointed out quickly. I have a total of 60 message boards to look after, so that precludes the luxury of my reading nearly every post.
You still have a great crew here and the potential of VMF remains unlimited.
Do I have a Mustang? Well, I am between Mustangs at this moment, but I have previously had a 1979 V6 TRX, a 2002 V6 and a 2003 Mach I. There is a 1997 GT in my sights right at this very moment. I am a Director of the local Mustang club here in Toronto, as well as a member of MCA and SVTOA. I am a past Technical Editor for Modified Mustangs magazine and a contributor to Modified Mustangs & Fords, Mustang Enthusiast and Musclecar Enthusiast magazines. I was also a Field Service Engineer at Ford Canada from 1976 to 1980 and, while there, fixed more Mustang II's than most people have ever seen.
You are right - this is a great hobby and the people are fantastic. Like the Mustang, though, we must continue to evolve and adapt to modern requirements. That does not mean giving up on the past, but respecting it by continuing to be around for the next generation of enthusiasts.

For what its worth, I share your frustration and all I can say for the moment is that if this was a simple problem, it would be fixed by now. I'd rather you not go away and leave us alone. We are about to embark on fixing the PM problems from the migration and, after that, I can dig into the twotoots2 challenge with you again.
