Question software update questions

I purchased a new laptop about 5-6 months ago it came with Vista..I am comfortable with the system it seems to work fine for me, is there an advantage to updating to the new windows 7?

If it's not broke, don't fix it!

My experience with updating operating systems on laptops has not been good. A lot of the time, laptops will need special drivers for their hardware. Often these drivers are not included with the "off the shelf" OS upgrade disk and the drivers included with the laptop don't work with the new OS.

I would check with the laptop vendor and see if and when they will have a Windows 7 upgrade available for your specific laptop.

Vincent,

You're good with Vista. The best improvement you can make to your computer is to get more RAM (memory). Find out how much RAM your laptop has and can hold and try to get 4GB or more in that puppy. That one step will provide improved performance, and increased stability (less crashes).

probably redundant but if its a 32 bit version of vista 4gb ram is a waste it wont be recognized.
