Default Getting my tonsils out...I'm too old for this

I am part of the generation of kids who got sick once or thrice every year and the doctor just smiled, prescribed antibiotics and sent me out the door. They kept saying that people need tonsils and we shouldn't just remove them for no reason...
Well, now that has changed a little and I have found a doctor willing to take them out. Problem is that I'm almost 30. Tuesday is the big day. Wish me luck.

A lot of guys our age still have their tonsils, but if they stay enlarged they can cause breathing problems, even sleep apnea. Your wife may be more thankful than you after they're removed!

I had my tonsils removed when I was 23 because I was getting sick constantly. I hate to tell you this but I would rather have 10 straight vasectomy's than do it again. I am glad I had it done though...they will give you good meds and you will know when you need it. Good luck

I beat you on the CP. I was 41! And yes, it was the worst. I hugged my two boys (8 and 5) to make sure they got it.

I had mine out at 4. It must not have been too bad, all I remember was "having" to eat a lot of ice cream.

I could stand to loose 10+ pounds. Maybe it'll kickstart my weightloss plan.
Wifey bought me Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and work gave me a new MacBook. I should have plenty of fun stuff to play with when I wake up.

Good luck with the surgery. My oldest brother is the only one of the 4 of us to have his tonsils out & he would always comment about whe telling everyone he got to eat ALOT of ice cream.

I had my tonsils removed at 45. At the same time a UPPP was performed Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Very painful and stayed that way for a long time.

I wish you good luck!

Its done. I had my nasal septum straightened too. So I have a constant bloody nose and I can't swallow. Yesterday, the pain was pretty unbearable and the vicodin doesn't really cut it. I don't know why House (from the show House) was addicted to the stuff for so long. It's never done anything for me.
I vomited a bunch yesterday too. That was so fun!
Wifey is doing a great job of taking care of me. She even took the kids to the sitter today so it would be quieter.
Hmm...house to ourselves and now I've got Florence Nightengale syndrome...but she said THAT activity would be too strenuous for me. I can't win.

I have heard that having tonsils out as an adult is a pretty serious deal. Speedy recovery to you!
