didn't put phone #, Date of birth, if I owned the house, wonder if they will come knocking. Been told by a VFW friend who is taking the census that they are going to go with flashlights and check on the sleeping homeless, guess they really don't need too much info ..

All that is required by law is how many people live in the house. All those other questions are just nosy.

Article I, section 2 of the Constitution calls for an enumeration of citizens every ten years, for the purpose of apportioning congressional seats among the various states. In other words, the census should be nothing more than a headcount. It was never intended to serve as a vehicle for gathering personal information on citizens.

The 4th Amendment to the Constitution prohibits government search and seizure of private information without a court warrant based on probable cause. Current Census policies violate that Amendment do they not?

All I have ever given them is the name of the head of household and the number of people who live in the house. That's all that's required. And they've always accepted that.

Too much paranoia here. Everything beyond the legally-required number of people in the household is de-identified and aggregated, and used only to track demographic trends. Those trends are incredibly useful for tracking migrations, diseases, income disparity, disparity in credit practices, etc., etc. Any information that includes your identity is legally sealed for 72 years (a weird number intended to reflect a lifetime), and prior that time is retrievable only by you- not law enforcement, not the IRS, not anyone.

That's been the case, without incident, for nearly a hundred years.

Hey folks... lotta funnys here!

TRUE STORY... I found myself between jobs 15 or so years ago and when the census needed temp workers for $12/hr. I regretfully took the bait.
I was REQUIRED to show up at every house on my list that either didn't send theirs in or skipped questions.
I was told to physically HOLD THE PEN along with the person filling it out, if I had to, to MAKE SURE the form was accurate and complete. If I didn't have enough persuasiveness to get the person to do it, then the "BOUNCER TYPE" census worker would be sent. Although I didn't personally witness it, there were storys of where Deputies accompanied the Bouncer-Type to "get-er-done."

I'm not paranoid. I just don't believe in giving them any more than what the law requires. They more you voluntarily give them, the more they will want. I homeschooled my kids and my experience has been to have as little interaction with the gov. as possible. All communications by registered mail. I've seen things that would make your hair stand on end, and we're talking about education. I'm not paranoid. It's none of their business. But, this is just my opinion. I'm not telling anyone what they should do. That's up to you.

You might want to update your location in your profile. I am aware of a few other cities and states where this occurs.

I am feeling a bit slighted---How come they aren't asking about my gang affiliation? I mean, that is important demographical data in LA, isn't it? I certainly don't want to do business with a competing gang...

God forbid they know how old everyone is... then they might know how quickly social security is going to run out!

Just about every one i talked to in my town including me has gotten this form. They got the names and addresses right but the name of the town was wrong. We live in West Unity,OH the form says Archbold, OH lol I think most of the people in town just threw the form away because of that.
