Default Guys, I have had it with Verison.......is there any

other cell phone company you would recommend?

We just got a $700 + bill yesterday. I spent most of the morning talking to manager of the local store who tried to just move me onto another plan.

I've been with them for about 15 years, and our account has averaged only about $150 or so with small overages of about $10-30 more at times.

I tried to tell the manager that we had to have been hacked on the account, but he wouldn't budge telling me that he would only take $300 off the bill.

Anyway, I have been thinking about dumping them for some time as we have had problems with them on other things many times.

Does anyone even offer an unlimited internet connection?

$700 ? GOOD GOD !
was it data or ?
one way to keep your data usage down is set your phone to connect to your home wireless that way anytime you're home you're not on your data plan
personally i prefer verizon

Verizon has the best service by far, but at a cost. My dad just switched from Verizon to Sprint because it costs half as much for the same plan.

Don't mess with the local stores call their customer service line and ask to speak with a manager. Their customer service techs have better training and understanding. I've been a Verizon & AT&T customer and they all suck, but at lease Verizon has good cell service (Bars).

What plan? I was just shopping for a new phone and plan, and Sprint, Verizon and AT&T were $80-$90 for an individual data plan. Right now I have an unlimited GoPhone plan with AT&T but I need a new phone at least.

Absolutely true. Also works that way at TMobile. Don't even waste your breath
at the store level. Call CS directly and talk to them.
Had to go through this on a brand new Samsung Galaxy phone ($$$) that
would last no more than 10 minutes unplugged after a full charge.

Verizon has the best coverage where you are -
The only ones that may have unlimited data has no coverage area.

Customer service at all the major carriers sucks.

Thanks for the replies.

I forgot to mention that I have NO internet on the phone, no texting. I do have the internet modem for my home computer, AND all of the automatic updating on the computers was uninstalled as soon as I got it home.

I don't know if we were hacked or not?

A friend of mine uses one of those Walmart phones, pay as you go plan which sounds pretty good at $40 per month at 400 minutes.

Just stay away from AT&T. Its is a miserable experience trying to navigate to a live person on the phone. The irony is that if the person you reach can't help you and has to transfer you, they have to go through the same miserable steps to transfer your call to somebody else in the company. And they probably have an equal or greater propensity to screw up your bill as Verizon.

No data plan on the cell? Are you subscribed to their bundled service? Thos enumbers really sound off now. I would login in to my account and get a break down on the usage. Pretty low chance of hacking but maybe something else is amiss especially if they have you on a fixed rate (xGB/mo) download for home service. Kids downloading torrents for movies or streaming a bunch of Netflix, Pandora or Spotify?

Yes, we've been on a fixed rate for internet use {home, not phone} of 5GB's for about a two years now.

No kids here, just two cats. Nothings changed much since we've had the service. I did quit internet gaming, and downloading Youtube vid's, as soon as they capped our GB's.

I love living rural, but I would love to have unlimited downloads via cable internet, as there are some YT vid's that feature the whole concert from some of my favorite groups from the 70's.

As mentioned Verizon has the best service in the US. I am on the road 300+ days a year for my work all over the US & global and have always had great service. I started with T_Mobile switched to AT&T and came back to Verizon because their service is just that much better.

Have you looked at your bill to determine where the charge came from. Was it really data overages? Was it for the home or your cell? You did not specify.

Once you figure out where the fee came from call CS. If it is really that different from your normal bill they will take care of it. Also ask to add on additional security features to your phone. They can lock your data plan and other features off at the service level so you will not get charged for it again. If you think your home network was hacked, there are also things you can do to secure.

I have no experience with Verizon or At&T. I'll take your word for it. We use T-Mobil for phones only. TV & internet is Armstrong cable. Service sort of OK.

My rant is about my personal phone. Its known here that I'm a techno dinosaur. I don't text. I don't MyFace. I don't Tweet. I don't app. I don't take or send pics with my phone. I don't play games on my phone.
I don't have a smart phone, nor would I know what to do with one if I had it. I want a stupid phone THAT ACTUALLY WORKS. I would gladly pay for one that works. Unfortunately, T-Mobil doesn't offer a stupid phone that actually works. My phone struggles to find a signal, drops calls, crackles, goes to voice mail without ringing, doesn't tell me that I missed a call, etc. I just bought it 8 months ago to replace a broken phone.

Is it too much to ask that modern tech actually work as intended and advertised?
