I just spoke w/ my newest neighbor. Spotted a late 50's VW in his garage and struck up a conversation. As it turns out, before he moved here, he and a friend owned a custom auto shop in Atlanta, GA . . . AND, he was part of an "Overhaulin'" team a few years ago . . . AND, he knows the owner of YearOne.
He's no longer in the business, but his friend still owns the shop. And my neighbor has been getting connected locally w/ some car guys.
Great to have a fellow gearhead starting a resto two doors down! A great guy w/ a lot of know-how and loves to help!
Oh man, must be nice. All I have is a bunch of semi-retires or older single women.
Yea, I'm that guy in the neighborhood you always hear air tools sounds coming out of the garage or the occasional car on stands in the driveway.

Often the path to forgiveness is to realize that the other person is an imbecile.
Jealous! There are two car families on my street - one has a bunch of restored stuff (Challenger, Cuda, Chevelle, Firebird) but doesn't do much but piddle around. Think he farms out pretty much everything. The other has a Factory Five Cobra that he built, but he doesn't know anything but kit cars. Disappointing but at least everyone on the street is understanding of me roaring up and down the street when I'm testing stuff out (or giving people rides )

My older nieghbor is a chevy guy (so we don't allow him on our side of the street) He has a nice sounding drag car- nothing like working outside and hearing him rev that thing w/open headers. Nobody else on the street is into cars- but many in the area that you can see drive by. Oh, yeah, there are two engine builders close (heintz brothers, and performance engine builders) So at least theres some performance minded people around. Nice pics BTW Kelly- you always have good backdrops, and a FB doesn't hurt either
I've been fortunate as well. Though there a many car guys in my area with some pretty amazing cars, there are only several car guys on the street., As for the cars, I've got a fellow Mustanger about a dozen houses down; another fellow that has a couple of C3 Vette projects and a 68 Firebird, all of which look and sound very nice; a '65 T-bird that I've worked on, as well as a number of seriously nice modern cars including an Audi R8, a Benz E63, a Porsche 911, and a BMW M5. Not to be forgotten are several memorable cars that have moved on over the years. These include a '67 Ranchero XL, another Porsche 911, a Superformance Cobra, a couple of '57 T-Birds, a couple of Jags, a '70 Skylark with a 454 Corvette motor, and the crown jewel, a 1938 Alvis Speed 25. This last one is a Pebble Beach quality car and was, in fact, on display at Pebble several years ago. I had a blast riding around in that piece of automotive art. Here's a link to that car: 1938 Alvis Speed 25 Cross & Ellis Touring Fly n Wheels Photo Gallery

I'm jealous because I'm a one man show. I have to do everything on my own including engine and tranny installs & removals. My neighbors will see me working in the garage and then want me to fix their daily drivers and then they frown and don't understand when I tell them that I am not a mechanic and I don't fix cars for a living, but that all of my cars are a hobby and I only work on them.
Well that's not completely true because I work on my daily drive too, but it's also a mustang.
I'm surrounded by car guys. Next door neighbor is a Chevy guy with 9 second tube frame 1941 Chebbie. He's also my fishin' buddy. Neighbor two doors the other way was the body shop manager for Roman Chariot. Go to YouTube and do a search for Vampire Vette, and you'll see his work. He now does high end restoration in his home shop. He calls me about twice a week to help him put on or take off a hood or bumper. The guy across the street campaigned a NASCAR Modified with a 400M Cleveland engine. He now owns an ATV shop.
Awesome!
I decided a bunch of us should all get together and move to the same street. wouldn't that be awesome if every house on the street had a classic mustang and people that are cool with helping each other out?

Now THAT's a great idea! Let's pick a warm state.
I am the only car guy in my neighborhood but am lucky in that I know all my neighbors and have never had anyone complain about the noise.
The closest was my next door neighbor who poked her head in to tell me I was going to "asphyxiate" myself when I was setting up the new carb. It was running pretty rich at the time.
My two best friends live about 1/4 mile away, one has a Cobra kit car and the other a 55 chevy and 42 willy's. So we set up our own cruise nights and "car shows" which consist primarily of parking our cars in the grass and sitting around drinking beer!
