The halftime show was the worst. Beyonce was literally strutting around and taking her clothes off. Since when is the halftime show a burlesque show? Too bad the power didn't go out during halftime.
Although, I must say I thought Alicia Keyes did an amazing version of the National Anthem. Also, Jordan Sparks sang America the Beautiful with kids from Sandy Hook Elementary. That was actually very nice.
There was also a pretty cool Dodge commercial which featured a tribute to farmers by Paul Harvey. No, I won't buy a Dodge. But the commercial was quite moving. The Budweiser clydesdale commercial was good. Pretty much every other commercial sucked.
What is up with the half time "shows" they are pitching...it was worse than the commercials. Really disappointing!
I watched all the commercials and the half-time show, and didn't notice anything even remotely lewd?!
Klutch: You considered that halftime show a 'burlesque show'? Odd culture.
Yes. When multiple women are on stage, bumping and grinding while taking their clothes off, that's considered burlesque on this side of the border.
Hey, I have no problem with such displays; but not during the Superbowl. The Superbowl should be a family friendly event. I've talked to multiple people who changed the channel to keep their kids from seeing that halftime show. That doesn't sound family friendly to me.
Whatever happened to having big name, popular entertainers at half time?
Well, Beyonce certainly qualifies as a "big name, popular entertainer". (I had never heard a Beyonce song before last night. But I hate pop music.) I just don't think her performance was appropriate for a Sunday evening sporting event.

Umm, the GoDaddy.com commercial, the commercial where dude woke up after spending the night with a stranger and was trying to get his t-shirt back, the Jack in the Box commercial where they blurred out the 80's hair band concert with a woman flashing...
Just to name a few. I'm sure if I went back and looked I could find more... Johnny, if you think any of those are appropriate for a 4 or 5 year old to view....

I wouldn't have imagined that even this many VMFers didn't watch the Super Bowl. I haven't watched it in years. I don't watch sports during the regular season so I have no interest in watching championship games. As for the commercials and half-time shows, I know that I'm not missing anything.
Instead of watching it, I recorded a few new songs to send to the copyright office. That's much more productive than being told that Beyonce is an entertainer or artist. I read that her reason for not singing live at the presidential inauguration was that there were too many variables for the sound to go bad. Well, only a talentless hack would lip sync. If you're really any good, your fans will know it, and if you have a bad performance, they will forgive you.
I'm must be the only one that seen nothing wrong with the performance at halftime. I'm a practicing Christian with strong faith and morals and instill the same in my 4 year old daughter who goes to a private Christian school. We watched together and I encouraged her to dance along. The morals she is taught each day overwhelm the slightly negative dance moves and clothing Beyonce was wearing proven by the fact that she looked at me and said "daddy her costume is yucky" as she continued to dance along.
My point is I'd rather her experience right and wrong and learn the difference than shelter her like the world is a perfect place. I'm far from perfect at anything but that's just how I was brought up.
Was a great game, the commercials were weak, and halftime was directed at a much younger crowd than the guys that frequent her is my only assumption.

Man, it looks like you watched each one. Why didn't you just change the channel? Not trying to hassle you but . . .

The only sport I follow is racing, and even there I'm a hopeless snob (France family holdings need not apply). Don't think I've ever seen a pro football game.
I'm encouraged to see so many VMFers with such convictions. I can't believe anyone would see the SB halftime as acceptable for all audiences.
Ditto... You all make me proud to be a member of VMF.
I love football, but I also have to uphold a standard of who I really am inside and who I struggle to be even when no one is watching.
Outside of the game itself I wanted nothing to do with the rest, so if they were'nt playing, then I wasn't watching.
i should add that my comment was not intended to belittle anyone elses opinion or suggest my opinion is right or wrong, i simply think the commercials and halftime show was intended for a younger audience than we have here.
football ? what be football ? you guys must not eat often. i just saw the super bowl , it what i put my dinner in. i just ate some clam chowder out the super bowl. whats a commercial ?
