Default Vet bills are out of hand IMO

jes. cost me $700 for 4 stiches in the left rear fore arm of my cat.

Dont know how she got hurt. cut was down to the bone. very little blood maybe 2 tablespoons in all. she wasnt in any appearant pain or anything.

They quote me a low and high price and as I suspected came right smack in the middle.
yeah I know they have to make a living and have expenses and all but for 4 stiches and 3 hours i think this was a lot or bread.

I have to be thankful though that they rushed her right in and didnt leave her waiting around.

My dad showed me what to do in a case like this. We had a dog hit by a car and split the dogs back leg open. Of course as kids we wanted him to go to the vet. Dad told us to give it a few days. Like he told us. They will clean it up themselves and it will be fine. It was. I have a lot of animals and do take them to the vet if the are sick but have never lost one because of an injury like that.. I think people go to the vet to easy. Vets love it.

Yeah, but what can you do. I must have spent 5 times that last year. I like my pets and critters in general, a heck of a lot more than most people on this planet. My wife and I just adopted a cat that was abused and had a rough, rough life after being abandoned by people who moved. This cat is one of the most loving and happy animals I have ever meet. I am glad we brought her into our family, no matter the vet bill.

I love our dogs, but it would come to a 22LR before I would pay $700 for anything animal related.

Three hours to do 4 stitches!?

My wife and I and our kids love animals even ones that aren't our pets. A couple years ago a bird flew into our glass door. We put it in a shoe box with a hand towel and my wife drove across town to the animal shelter. The bird survived. We paid the costs, not the taxpayers!

Starting fluid into a rag, across nose of cat. Count to 5, take out sewing kit and get busy.

Same trick works if you haven't been dating for a while either.....

I've got one on my desk right now for over $1200 when the kid's cat
got hit by a car a few weeks back. Hospital stay for 4 days, wired jaw,
antibiotics, etc.
I think the OP's bill is really high though.....

All of our animals have a different pot of dollars. My wife sent me to the vet with a cat I hate. They started talking about certain food to feed him and bring them back onnce a month to get hydrated. I had the cat put down. I had a ferret I liked so much I held her when she died. That ferret followed me everywhere. When I would sit down she would get next to me and curl up. She had a big pot of dollars.

It was three hours b/c of the anisthesia had to wear off. prob whole job was 8 minutes.

well maybe we did over react. I do bet youre right that she'd healed herself but animals are real good at hiding pain and although the thought did cross my mind I could not leave her to chance.

there was one guy there raising hell b/c he had to wait. he was already there for an hour waiting for a check up. when they rushied me in me in b4 him he has a *hit fit. I felt like busting him one in the nose for running his mouth like that.

Blues power.
Yet another reason why people suck, and animals deserve our admiration.

My friend just had a brutal knee surgery to fix torn stuff in his knee, and it took like 1 1/2 hours....
so how does 4 stitches take 3 hours for a cat?
and I agree that pricing is waaaaay over priced...

Did you use an emergency clinic? How much would an emergency clinic charge you if you went in for stitches?

Our Yorkie got mangled by a pit bull, crushed his skull, lost a couple of teeth and some broken ribs. While I was at the vets office I was thinking I'd go as high as $1000. The vet said it was best to leave his skull heal naturally...shocked me I figured he would suggest putting him down. He kept him for 2 and a half days and charged me $275, go figure. The Pitbull didn't fare off as well, "That's all I got to say about that!"
