I am using the same with no issues. Is it mounted directly to the firewall and not though insulation? Can you post a picture of how/where you have it mounted?
Are you sure yours is a 69 pedal? It looks a bit different than mine. Actually, quite a bit different. Even the bracket/rod is different.
Here is picture of how I mounted mine. I recall one of the mounting bolts lined up with a factory dimple that was on the firewall. Then I lined up the cable opening to the firewall, horizontal line, and drill a hole for the cable and attached the cable. The horizontal distance between the top column bolt to the top pedal bolt is about 5-1/2". I don't see the year of your car, but if its a 65-66, there will some variation to this dimension. My is a 67. I hope this helps.
Does anyone have a good measurement fir how far off the floor the pedal should sit? Should it be equal to the brake pedal, or lower than it? The Assembly manual has a dimension, but it isn't clear if it is from the bare floor or after carpet & insulation is installed. I made my own custom cable so I am trying to figure out the correct position to set it.
Set the pedal height where you need it to have full throttle with the pedal against the mat. If you don't like the pedal height then you will need to adjust the pedal ratio which would be a huge pita.
