i have a 66 FB with a 69 302 i thinking about doing a TT setup. the engine has 8.5 to 9.0 compression. im guessing that may cause some problems but its easier to get turbo parts that and inexpensive paxton kit. im thinking about smaller turbos that will only produce about 400 at the fly. if anyone has any coments for me im all ears.
if you keep boost around 5-6 psi the stock pistons will work. You can use turbos from a t-bird turbo coupe from the junkyard as they are perfect size (2) for a 302. check out this site www.toohighpsi.com and checkout the 66 fb. I was thinking of a TT 5.0 but I already have a 408 in process.
What are you doing for indution? Blow through carb? I don't think I'll do a turbo set up but I've given some thought hypothetically what I'd do. As far as some carb mods with blow through is this. You don't need a big one, in fact, from what I tend to see is to go with a smaller carb. Next I saw this in a reader comment in Car Craft on his home brew set up, he enlarged the power valve restrictor channel in the primary metering block. It said in the article that blow through carbs tend to run rich. Opening up this channel allows the jetting to be reduced for good power and fuel milage but richen up when needed.
BTW, where in Joisey are you? I'm off exit 172 on the GSP.
what im thinking of doing is keeping the setup i have now and building up a 351 and doing everything on a stand and taking alot of time. another question is alot of torque in one of these uni-body car going to crack paint in any seems in the car.
PS. huskinhano- if you have any parts or know of any clubs or shows let me know. i dont want to brag but im only 20 yrs old and i have 2 projects in magazines
I forget who said it but it's not bragging if you've done it. Offhand I don't know of any clubs. I did belong to the GSMC but they moved to either Denville or Dover on RT10. It was too far to go. On Tues, there's a cruise spot on 303 Tues nights, where the old RT303 drive in sign is by exit 5S on the PIP. Also in Rutherford by Giants stadium on Sat nights is Wiskey Cafe with several hundred cars showing up. On Wed. nights there's a cruise in the parking lot of the DMV in Wycoff. A few years ago someone I worked with told me there was a cruise spot in Closter at the Kmart but I never did see one there. Only went once on the night it was suppose to be but nothing.
