You know the black convertible tops that look like brushed suede almost?

Does anyone make tops of this material for our classic mustangs?

Thanks,

Mark

My mom's brand-new Z4 has a top made out of that material. It's a high-quality brushed twill fabric. I haven't seen anybody making Mustang tops out of it, but California Mustang does sell a cloth top for vintage Mustangs. Looks like the price is a tad under $600. Even that would probably be a great improvement over the factory vinyl top, at least in the looks department.

I just purhased a cloth top last month for my stang. There are a few brands out there. Robbins tops are the best but they are expensive. It will cost you over $1,000 for the top and window. I went with an EZ on top and it was about $400 with a vinyl window. The top looks nice but the install guys said that it may be a little more difficult to install than the Robbins but will look nice.

I will try to find the website I purchased from and post it on here for you.

Here is a wesbite that you can see both kinds of tops, vinyl and stayfast cloth/fabric.

I just had a top put on made with the Haartz StayFast fabric... there are others styles and manufacturers that cost more and have a little different weave pattern... but all the installers I talked to recommended StayFast for great quality with the best price.

My installer prefers Electron Tops. He has installed Robbins and Electron. He thinks they are as good fit and quality but for quite a bit less... check em out. I had the price differences between Robbins and Electron, fabric versus vinyl but I don't have all of my figures with me and won't for another week or so (away from home right now).

I went with a Charcoal top with plastic window on my SilverBlue... WOW! It looks so much richer than the black vinyl. I am very happy with it.

well I guess that didn't work... sorry

(VMF help says: If file attachments are enabled, when making a post you can click the "Manage Files" link. A popup window will open allowing you to browse and select file(s) off your hard drive, then click "Add". When finished click "Finished" and the window will close so you can continue making your post.

I can't find any place to enable file attachments... do I have to download it to a file sharing web site or something?

I had to go to photobucket.com and open an account before I could post pictures here.

Two other options are KEE convt tops and AA Best. I bought a Kee and the quality seems good. The installer agreed and had no problem. Because the material is a little heavier, you may/may not have some problems with a boot. Others may know.

Sunfast is another name for them. It's a canvas looking material.

Our 1998 Porsche Boxster and 1988 Alfa Romeo Spider both have that type of top.

Robbins Tops makes that fabric style top for the Mustang, I believe.

I've got a Robbins Sunfast tope on our Alfa and it's very good quality. I recommend their products. They cost a little more but you get what you pay for.
