Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone has any install pics of their Mustang Steve clutch cable conversion?

Thanks,
Scott

What would you like a picture of?

Where it mounts to the firewall/cowl pinch weld or how it mounts on the top of the clutch pedal?

I have the below picture, however my pinch weld was narrowed by the previous owner. A "normal" installation would look a little different as the pinch weld should be wider, allowing the two bolts to be not so close to the edge of the pinch weld.

Thanks for the picture Dave. Do you happen to have a shot of the clutch pedal where the quandrant is welded to?

Is there anything that I should watch for when doing the install? Any tricks to make it easier?

Follow the instructions and you will be fine. Make sure when you weld the quadrant on the top of the pedal that it is square. I really took my time when drilling the holes for the billet adjuster on the firewall. Remember you want the cable to pull really straight.

To get the kit supplied bellcrank positioned squarely on top of the clutch arm (and keep it square during initial tack welding), I used a pair of vice grips and 2 pieces of flat bar stock I had laying around to make a "sandwich" for the bellcrank/clutch arm joint. The two pieces of flat stock overlapped the bellcrank and the top of the clutch arm and when pinched together firmly with the vice grips created a perfect plane for initial tack welding.

I also didn't have to alter the underside of my cowl to provide any clearance for the bellcrank, there was plenty of room. Although this may have been the result of the PO's previous inner cowl repair work.

Measure twice.... cut/drill once.

Other than common sense type stuff, the conversion is about as straightforward as it can get.

Good Luck!

Dave

Dave,
I think you are correct about the po making the clearance for you because there is no way in heck mine would work without "dimpling" the cowl. I thought this step to be a pain so consider yourself lucky. I tried to get a jack in there but it kept slipping down so I used the hammer method. Like Dave said most of it is common sense, just take your time.
