ok well i couldn't find a console i really had to have so i broke down and am trying to make it! , basically i just fabbed up a card board box the shape i wanted and then i just overlayed fiberglass and it looks pretty good so far, besides the point it could double for an oil pan!

just removed some of the cardboard it actually came out better than i thought, even though there will be alot of filling and sanding i am sure!

seems that piece that is left absorbed alot of the resin and is permanently stuck, but it wont matter since it is on the inside

i know someone mentioned where to get cup inserts, any help would be appreciated

nice piece, get cup inserts from the junk yard. Clean them up good they can look brand new.

Are you going to install some kind of door to store items in or just leave it solid.

My plan was to use thin plywood and spray foam insulation. Cover with material and add some custom features like lights and switches and stuff.

where did you get the fiberglass material from?

fiberglass material was from autozone, they have this little bag like 6inchx6inch of fiberglass but it folds out to a 2 ft x 4 ft sheet the resin was expensive about 35.00 for a 1/2 gallon. but i only used 1/2 of it for this the fiberglass cost about 6 bucks, next time i will go to sherwin williams for a better quality fiber glass, this one was crappy and if i got to much resin on it it would sag

Oh ok thats cool. Are you going to be able to rest your arm on the console? the back part looks to low for that. The gauge idea is cool to.

I got my cup holders from a boat supply store. They are about $2 each. Bring a can or bottle with you so you can test fit them. You will also want to measure the depth of the area you will put them in. The project looks great. Keep us posted.

It looks like mine. Nice job. If my pics come through my cardomain site, then they will appear but for now they don't. You can check out my link if you want to see on for a '65/'66 fastback. I love mine and I'm sure you will too as well.

Before you cut the holes you may want to reverse mold your creation. That way you can easily reproduce another. Maybe offer them for sale. It looks very nice and should work well.

foam will make the fiberglass more stable and also ensure no vibrations come from it!

as far as the reverse mold, i am thinking about that, but i will do all the touch up work first, then make the mold.

I am also thinking about doing one with an arm rest also, but have not gone that far yet! problem with the arm rest is people wont want wasted space, which would mean i would need to make it so it can work as storage also, which is alot more work!

ya the mold kinda fell through it was just to difficult to re mold considering the auto zone fiberglass sucked and i didn't want to pay another 35 bucks for resin,

here are my end results, i already had the gauges, the cup holders are gonna be black as soon as i can get some good plastic paint there is also a temp gauge that is not installed yet since it has the sending unit connected,
