Default 8.8 owners in here

I'm finishing up my install. I have been doing a lot of searching and research (too much maybe) and now I am confused. My two issues are the drive shaft and the brake line.

My car is a 68 with the I6 and C4 auto. What is the best way to hook up the drive shaft? I see some people use one from an explorer, but I think I would like to use my stock drive shaft. That means I need the flange from Inland Empire right? This one?

Inland Empire Driveline Service :: Yokes :: OEM Replacement Pinion Yokes

What u-joint does my stock drive shaft have? I really hope its the 1310, as the 1350 pinion yoke is twice as expensive.

From what is sounds like, my stock drive shaft should bolt right up with this adapter right?

My next question is about the brake line adapter. I was hoping someone would know what size I need to go from the stock brake line to the explorer line. I'm sure I can figure it out, but would like to save some time and money.

Thanks for any info in advance, and feel free to check out my build thread in the gallery and leave comments.

You have TWO options:

1. The IEDS piece you outlined above which converts your 8.8 to be able to you your existing driveshaft as is. But I THINK that pinion yoke may still require a 1330 u-joint, so you may still end up needing a 1310/1330 adaptor u-joint to make it work. Your driveshaft currently uses 1310 u-joints on both ends.

2. As I did, is to get a driveshaft adaptor plate in order to leave the 8.8 pinion yoke alone. See the part number and picture in my writeup:

Brake Line adaptors - shoot I messed around with thisfor a couple days. I bought and returned so many adaptors I forgot what I ended up using.

Thanks for the info. I've read your thread a few times, and you mention that the drive shaft might be too long even with the axle moved to the back holes. I really don't want to do this though. I guess if its too long I could just get mine shortened right? That flange adapter looks like it might be the hot ticket if I can find one as cheap as you did.

And yes, the buying / returning of fittings is what I'm trying to avoid

I didn't end up needing to move my rearend back at all - it's exactly in the middle. The explorer aluminum driveshaft is actually about .5 inch shorter but works about perfectly with the slightly longer pinion of the 8.8.

If you have a pick-a-part of similar, you can probably the the whole driveshaft and pinion adaptor part for less the IEDS wants for their pinion adaptor.
