Im just wondering if there is anyone out there that has EVER twin turbo'd a 65/66 that have the turbos mounted in the engine bay (in front of the engine) and NOT in the back (under rear seat) and HAVE "NOT" CUT the shock towers out?
All I'm hearing at the moment (across the board) is "it physically can not be achieved unless you cut out or notch the towers"
I don't need your opinion on "why" I shouldnt do it, just if you know of one that has been built (I dont want to cut the towers AT ALL)
I have seen the one that the guy mounted the turbos under the back seat like a Vette kinda deal (but he cut up the back floor pan) and bucket loads that have cut out the shock towers but Im wondering if anyone has seen a 351 Windsor in a 65/66 with a twin turbo setup mounted up front with NO CUTS
If you have any links for myself or others....that would be great (something tells me there aren't to many links out there)
...and yes...I know the question has been brought up before...yes I have used the search button (multiple sites)....but that was then and this is now....We have come along way with the resto mod parts available for these cars and Im sure someone has had a crack at this.
We did one a couple years ago, 302 based block, forward facing headers, pair of 61 mm turbos in front of the front tires, air to air intercooler. It had a blow thru Quikfuel carb then we put an XFI on it. The car could pull right up to you and you wouldnt expect a thing. It would be a lot easier and nicer without those shock towers though.
The coolest one we did was an 03 Cobra with a Hellion Hellraiser kit. It got an Aluminator crate engine, the stock blower got ported, 2 76 MM turbos behind the bumper cover (feeding the blower). 3 stage boost controller, default was 500 at the tire, press the button once and it was 750, press twice and 1018. From under the hood all you saw was the pipe coming off the blower that looks like a cold air kit.
I think you have to go on to that page and "LIKE IT" in order to see updates in your timeline thingy
This is a K code GT so you can understand the significance of not cutting any steel or the towers as I want to retain all the original sheetmetal...I want to be able to reverse every thing back to original without any dramas
jon@tcd....were using a 351W so I dont have as much room to play with like a 302 but I know what your saying about being a full sleeper
