Default 428CJ build up and seats..

I just recently obtained a 69 Mustang with a 428CJ engine, its a stock engine. I was wonder what you guys would suggest to help push more power out of it. I'm not looking for anything to extreme, just some decent power increase, you know to throw you back in the seat a little more. Also it has 73 seats in the car, should I buy original mach 1 seats? or should I buy all the upholstery and have someone do it for me. Haven't found a place that just has complete seats just the kits. Thank in advance.

*EDIT*- Ment to put this in General discussion, had to many tabs open and not paying attention ha.

Headers, freer flowing exhaust and a set of gears (3.91's maybe). This stuff is fairly easy.Cam and aluminum intake maybe down the road. Just have a plan going in so every thing matches up and works good together.Good luck Doug

Good advice above.

My recommendation for FEs

1 - Headers and a good dual 2.5 inch exhaust (manifolds rob more power than anything)
2 - Recurve the distributor (wont change WOT power, but will make it run stronger on the street)
3 - Intake manifold and carb (Not in your case, the CJ manifold is VERY good, just heavy, so you can skip this step unless you want an alum intake, then pick carefully)
4 - Gears (assuming you dont already have 3.50+)
5 - A modern cam to match the use of the car

So when you look at what you have, really its a set of headers and a recurve first, then build from there

If you look at my sig, we can bring you as far as the budget lets you, but you'll be amazed at what just the headers and a recurve will do.
