Default Looking for ideas for hood

I'm soliciting input for something different for my hood. I've currently got the 67 Shelby scoop on an original hood (not running the 67 nose, but am using the R valance). I've got to have at least 2" taller than stock over the intake. current setup clears, but it's becoming the "standard", along with a cowl hood.

I'm looking for something different. Any suggestions?

Anyone got a pic of a KR hood scoop on a stock length hood?

Other ideas? Not necessarily looking to go "Ring Brothers" type radical, and not looking for "Corvette Summer" 70's style either. Just want to be a little different from the normal 67 restomod (so I'm leaving out Eleanor hoods too).

Very similar to the "NASA" style Mach One hood 71-73

I know you want a bit of a different look, but to me at least the '67 Shelby design is so popular for a reason, it is the best looking design out there. If you need more room, Maier makes a '67 scoop hood that is I believe two inches taller than standard.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE it! And when I started this car 9 years ago, it wasn't that common, but now it seems to be the standard (at least for restomods).

I got to thinking about it after I got the Shelby--I'd like to do something like it or the GTS hood, but the S197 body doesn't have the prominent center crease like our hoods do. Just looking for something a little more "unique".

Keep them coming!

The boss one above looks a lot better than the Shelby one.

I wish my setup fit under a stock hood with turn signals.

The proportion on the boss scoop just looks wrong on a 67-8, at least to me. It seems to be too much scoop for these cars.

I feel the same way. I love the look of the 67 scoop, but it's the norm not the exception now. I'm gonna go with this one when my rich uncle gets back from his trip to the poor house 1967 1968 Mustang Shelby GT 500 Style Fiberglass Short Twin Scoop Hood | eBay

a cowl hood on a 67-68 certainly is not the norm here in california. im on my second maier cowl hood and the fit has been fantastic on both.

hard to beat a cowl if one is needed. this white 68 is one of the nicest cars on yellowbullet.

That teardrop hood just doesn't look right. Love the Maier hood though.

I am in the same boat. I did my car about 8 or 9 years ago as well. The Shelby Style hood wasn't used too much unless on true Shelby or clones. The problem I see us having (guys with verts) is keeping the proportions right. You can't have a heavy looking hood with nothing on the back. I think my car looks a bit heavy on the front and side when you compare it to the rear. The only real option for us is the Shelby hood or the smaller cowl hood. I just don't see any of these other bulky hoods looking right on the convertible. Maybe the fastback (and that's a big maybe) but not the convertible.
