I bought a 1969 Mach I hood without the scoop. The mounting holes are there with two more holes near the rear.

Thanks for the credit! lol. I cut mine out for the same reason as sportsroof69 did. I did the same on a 70 fastback I had back in the 80's. While you're not going to get any ram air effect with a factory style hood scoop, you will get the benefit of cool air. And that's better than the engine ingesting hot air out of the engine compartment. You can fabricate a system to only draw cool air with a 69-70 Mach1 scoop. After all the same scoop was used on the 1968 1/2 Cobrajet Mustangs and Torinos where it was functional.

I'm going to steal the idea from you... that you stole from Maxum.

I think I'm going to go as far as getting a pin on hood (13 lbs from HERE) and then install the hood scoop... Why not?!

Wow--Only 13 pounds---had a cowl fiberglass hood on mine when it was raced but took it off. Don't think it's street legal in Va. Mine weigh's a little more than 13 pounds though.

Huh. I never thought that would even come up as a question during inspection or a roadside pullover. What would make it illegal?

Here in Ontario it is the height..I believe they have to be 6 inches or lower so as not to obstruct your view..

I have got caught in the rain twice with mine with no problems..

I think here in Virginia there's a limit on a cowl hood of like 3'' or so high. The one i have is about 6''. Not 100% sure on that being a set law.

Oh yeah, that makes sense. For some reason I was thinking you couldn't run a fiberglass hood. Must be tired.

Nigel--Would sell it...Have it on CL right now. Virginia/Harrisonburg. Was thinking about keeping it If i ever start drag races again. But don't really know if that's gonna happen. Have it on there for $325. It is the better made hood. It has the underlining etc, and is one you can use your original hinges with and bolt on. Cost about $550 new. If interested you would have to come get. i do not ship large parts because it's a PITA. Let me know if you decide you want it. Thanks

It's at least a 5'' cowl if not a 6 and I'll have to tell you that it will probably be illegal to run on the street in Maryland. If nothing else it's just a reason for The Man to *-with you. I would check the law there and see. Hate to see you spend the money on something you can't use. Especially a fellow VMF'er.
