Default Probe, Eagle or OEM Crank?

Speaking specifically of the low end cast cranks in 3" stroke. Which is the better buy?

The Probe comes in at $210. The Eagle is around $260 I think. A stock crank could probably be had much cheaper but would need to be checked by a crank shop (well, they all should be checked by a crank shop) and would probably require some work.

Just to add to the mix (no personal experience), but I know Woody likes the RPM cranks. Well, he likes certain RPM cranks. Plus they seem to be having a sale .

And as per the post, Scat and K1 are both alternatives.

That being said, my crank is used from the circle track guy I got it from (3.25") Sunrey (Eagle), forged. It was perfect, but it may have already been turned, who knows.

Good luck with the build.

Thanks for the info. The RPM stuff looks good. H-Beam Rods for $322. Not bad. Beats the OEM replacement Eagles/Scats at about $240-260.

I hate SCAT and I've owned a couple in various price points. Their customer service is piss poor. Go with anyone else.

Scat does not even offer a cast crank in 3" stroke.

I haven't had any problems with my Scat crank.

Of the ones you mentioned, I'd consider it a tossup. Close your eyes and pick one, but concerning your comment about having a stock crank checked by a machine shop, that goes for ANY new crank you buy. I don't car if it come from Crower or Bryant. Always have it checked.

I would just go with an OEM crank for a 3" stroke.
If you are going aftermarket, do a stroker. Just my 2 cents.

If you are not stroking the engine, go with a stock crank, as long as it has not been turned too many times.

Eagle is risky IMO;

Well known to have machining issues and casting issues.

The stock crank can take a fair amount of abuse. Unless this is going to be a really wild engine combination a stock crank will do just fine.
