That's what I was thinking about. I was going to build a sealed panel that is removable (I don't know much about tank armor). but I like the setup with in tank pump and all rite there.
I checked it out on Summit, $649 plus $12 shipping. Sparktec has them for $604 with free shipping.
Pretty good deal for a hassle free system. I might just do this...

Aeromotive is top grade stuff. I purchased their Phantom Fuel kit to modify my existing tank but i like the design of these all in one tanks already done. I need to call them if they have a tank to fit my 70.
What is the fuel capacity of a 68 tank by the way? Are they dimensionally the same as a 69/70 tank?
The 70 is larger than a 69, so I'm guessing a 68 is different. Now will they just bolt in, I can check since I have both in garage tomorrow, Phil.
I run aeromotive pump in my 69, but ran external simply because this is a new release. They only had 79 up when I was building my 69 some years back. I ran it with a Procharged 351W and it never has had an issue. Its a little loud, so sticking it in the tank is a bonus. I'd definitely invest in some GOOD sound deadening at your level of build. Mine is keyed in on lightness at 2900lbs with roll bar, not refinement.
lmk if you want me to check on tank fitment tomorrow, though a vendor should be able to address this. I have two SS tanks in basement right now, a 67 and a 69. Its like my own personal warehouse sometimes

Luke i did a search the earlier tanks were 16 gallon, 69 were 20 and 70 were 22
i am going to call Aeromotive because if they were smart they would have designed their new tank with at least a 20 gallon capacity and if so i would return what i got and get the drop in tank ready to roll. sacrifice 2 gallons isn't a big deal to me.
If not modifying my existing tank looks like a 1 hour job so im not worried. I do like the sender in the trunk so i can eliminate drilling an extra hole in my new floor section for the little yellow wire.
I ordered one of these through Summit last week, has to be shipped from vendor and no ship date yet. I plan on building a steel panel over the tank which will act as a trunk floor and it will have an access panel for the pump and sendor unit built into it. The tanks are actually built by TANKS Inc. gas tanks for street rods and custom cars and trucks but aeromotive puts their own pump into it. The tanks inc. unit is a little cheaper and would probably work well for most applications.

I was thinking of switching over to this system but, I am at the max of that fuel pump. I have to stick with My Weldon DB2025 it is loud but bulletproof.
I agree stainless would be nice, but at double the cost it just isn't in the budget. Besides, the original steel tank lasted almost 45 years so I think I will be allright.

Double the cost? Man, that sounds high. I ended up with a Glenn's Performance Sleeper tank (no internal pump), and it was only $400 for the 22 gallon mild steel and $500 for the SS version.
Not saying this is what to get, lots of pros to an internal pump, but double $600 for SS is crazy.
I went with mild steel...I don't plan to have the car that long to need SS.

Yes, there are stock style SS tanks available like you state 66resto, but I haven't found one with a in tank pump, which is what I want.
Most SS tanks with in-tank pumps are custom fabbed and are very pricey and are not stock looking.
