Does anyone know who will do phosphating of hood hinges and so forth in the PNW? I've looked at several metal finishing companies in the Portland area without much success. Either they don't do that process or won't do small jobs. What do other folks do with these sorts of parts? How does powder coating compare in looks? Help!?

Ever think of trying it yourself?
There's this stuff from Eastwood and they also have this "Metal blackening kit", I'm not sure if it's really what your after or how concours you're trying to be...but it's a start.

I've also read that some folks use gun blueing and that most judges don't know the difference.

Hope this helps.

Try these guys http://www.queencityplating.com/pages/Sevices.html

I bought a kit and did a bunch of stuff myself, really easy.

Where did you get your kit? I would be very willing to do it myself, since calling to ask about phosphating at plating companies has netted me no one who actually does it. I read in old copies of Mustang Monthly about home phosphating kits, but the companies they mention no longer exist.
