Hello,

For anyone who has gone to this before, I have a question.

The flyer says the first 250 pre-registered cars are guaranteed First street parking if they get there by 8:30 AM.

That would seem to mean if you're not one of them and you show up before 8:30 AM, you will automatically get sent off First street since they need to save the First street spots. As of 8:30 AM, they will park everyone who arrives on First street until there are no more spots.

Does anyone know if this is how it really works? Would it be better to wait till 8:30 AM for the chance at a First street spot? Or do they not let anyone in other than the first 250 until 8:30 AM? Or is there a seperate waiting line for all who want to wait until 8:30? Or is there a giant car version of musical chairs with all the off First street parked cars once 8:30 hits?

Thanks,
Kevin

Unless it rains, I can almost guarantee you will NOT get front street parking without a tag numbered between 1-250.

It's been very rare and generally causes quite a ruckus if anyone gets First Street parking that does not have a tag number 1-250 even though they may have room at the end of the street (I've seen them move people and people leave in a huff because they wouldn't let them park on First even though there were visible spots).

The problem is that competition for spots is tight all around (Especially on nice sunny days). Tons of pre-registered cars, including those with numbers 1-250, start lining up as early as 5:30am (Rules says not to line up before 6:00am but people will be there).

Those who line up early with numbers above 250 are there to snag spots on the feeder streets closest to First, so once they’ve parked, they get really torqued, if some yahoo rolls in and gets to park where they couldn’t, especially those who may have been forced to park at the top of a feeder street.

If First street is important to you, my only advise is to arrive early to snag a corner spot, or register the day your notice arrives in the mail and hope you get in early enough. Or Purchase/Trade with someone who has a number between 1-250

The weather at this point looks like its going to be good. 70 and sunny from what the forecast was this morning.

Maybe I'll try to get there before 7:30, at least, before all the non pre-registered people are allowed in.

So how'd you make out in the parking department?

I heard there were something like 700 cars there

Lots of cars, someone said they cut it off at 645. Parking worked out good. I got there about 7:15 before the non-preregistered group and I'm glad I did. The line for them was huge.

I was able to pick what side street I wanted so I went down to B Street. We would have been about 5 cars up from 1st street, but we went up a little higher to get a grassy spot behind the cars.

I thought it would be a long time to spend there, 7:30 or so till 4:30 but it flew by. We usually spend a lot of time sitting behind the cars, but we did very little of that.

We only had time for two beers at the Picadilly pub and didn't even get into Fred's. Oh well.

I talked to a guy that parked right next to us. He had a 74 AMC Gremlin, looked like it was just out of show room. He said it was his first show and found out he lived a few miles from us in Woodinville.

It was a good show to end the season on. And the t-shirts are better than last years.
