In about a month or so I'm relocating to Charlotte NC from the rat race north east.

Thought I'd drop in and say hello...

We're glad to have ya! Drop Cruzer a note, he's right outside Charlotte. Of course when you come to Myrtle Beach, and you WILL come to Myrtle Beach, give me a yell!

John: are you following in my footsteps? I used to be in Chantilly, VA up until 2000, and then moved down to become a non-Yankee.

Welcome!

Uhmmm....
I must have missed something.
When did Virginians and N. Virginians become Yankees?

Not that we wouldn't have you if you wanted to become one.

I've heard often that anyone born North of I-20 is a Yankee. I've found that to be a pretty fair rule of thumb

(I'm one of only 4 natives of the metro Atlanta area)

Stan (the other one)

So Stan...you're the one of 4 responsible for the awful traffic jams? I thought so...

North of I-20? Holy Crap, you tell those here in the Redneck Riviera that they are yankees.

LOL

Okay - found my new home. Clover, South Carolina. Lake Wylie actually. Guess I'm going to need a boat or some sort of water vehicle. =)

Looks like on or about June 16th.

I have a boat on Lake Norman, but have a buddy who lives on Lake Wylie. The lake up here is a little crowded at times. I guess that is all the fun right?

"Southern" tends to be a state of mind (OK, and some really noticeable accents) rather than so much a geographic location. Most southerners no longer have any idea of where the Mason-Dixon line actually is. Nor do they care.
Southerner rule of thumb tends to be that "yankeeland begins about 20 miles north of wherever the hell I happen to be living."
Y'all c'mon down and see us.

YO BP! We who live in LA(Lower ALabama AKA Florida Panhandle) have held the title to Redneck Riveria since before there were any Rednecks. We arent the one's who named this area, Todd ask any one in Atlanta, or Birmingham, or Montgomery where the Redneck Riveria is they'll tell ya!
Karol & I may plan for Mustang Week next year.
