When ONE gallon of quality basecoat (Dupont, PPG) can cost upward of $400, then how in the world can someone like MAACO paint an ENTIRE CAR for $199 (as advertised sometimes) ??
They use VERY CHEAP materials and do MINIMAL labor, that is how -- and also nickel-and-dime you for every little thing, as mentioned in a previous post.
It cannot be overstated that when it comes to paint and body, you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I am looking at spending upwards of $10k on sheetmetal work, body repair and paint on our '68 GT Fastback project. Why? because that's just how much its going to cost at $43 an hour.
If you want to come to the Dallas/Ft.Worth area, there are several places that other NTMC members can recommend, such as Advantage Autoworks, Mid-Cities Mustang, etc. Go to the the North Texas Mustang Club website at www.ntmc.org
for contact info.
BTW - I am using Mastercraft Autowoks in Ovilla because 1). I've seen work they've done on original Shelby Cobras, $1M Ferraris for Bob Norwood, Shelby Mustangs, Mach 1s, and many, many, more ... 2). They are close to my home.
