Here is the link to a new track that is in it's second season. Not a lot of spectator facilities yet, but they are being added. The track was a trainer landing strip for the old Reese Air Force Base. The strip is about a mile long and all concrete and was thick enough to land those cargo planes. It is out in the middle of the great flatlands, so take plenty of sunscreen, food and water. There are food vendor booths. A guy I work with built both "The Joker" (IHRA T/S 4) and the "VooDoo Child" (which is also owned/driven by a co-worker). Both of those Lubbock cars have the track record for their class; 7:22 and 7:17.
We are getting a new drag strip built here in Crandal on highway 175.It is going to be a nice track it looks like.It looks to be an 1/8 mile.It is just past the golf course in Crandal.I will keep you guys informed as I find out more.I live exactly 6 miles from the track! :winkgrin:I hope to have my 84 ready to run by then!It has a 418W,with a powerglide, back half with a 9 inch. This car will be fun! :jawdrop: :jawdrop:

I've been watching it take shape myself. When I first saw it, you couldn't tell much about it, and I was hopeing it was going to be a road track . But now that they've gotten a little farther along I see that it's the drag strip you mentioned. Thats still okay, but was sure hopeing for a road course.
Last info on Hallsville is it is permanently closed.
Crandall track -- last news is city is putting the screws on the owners to prevent finish out. This info comes 3rd hand from a discussion on another board.
Paris Drag Strip has been shut down over a year but, thankfully, just reopened under new ownership last weekend.
