On Sunday, December 28, 2003 at around 10:30pm, our beautiful son Nicholas was riding in the front passenger seat of his friend Zachary’s Honda Accord, and in the bad seats were Nick’s girlfriend Mary, and Zach’s girlfriend Brittney. They were traveling on a remote curvy country road in southern Cedar Hill when the car lost control, left the road and collided with a tree in thick woods. The passenger door and roof of the car took the brunt of the impact and the car came to rest on its driver's side, wrapped around the tree.

Nick was in the car 3 hours. It took the paramedics 2 hours to cut him out of the wreckage. He has compound fractures of both legs. He was flown by CareFlight to Baylor Medical Center. Mary suffered a broken collar bone and separated shoulder and crawled out of the car to get help. The other two kids were also sent by CareFlight to Baylor and are still here.

We have been here at Baylor since Sunday night. He had surgery first thing monday morning to repair his right leg, and repair arteries in his left leg.

Nick is in surgery right now (Friday 1/2) for his left leg repair and should be out by noon today. We will be at Baylor hospital at least five more days. Room H-604, phone number
214-818-5604 (if its busy I'm on the laptop modem!)

In order to save time and not overwhelm people with emails, I have set up an online journal which I can update daily, sometimes several times a day. The page is:

www.worleyworld.com/nick/

Please read the journals for the latest information, and you can also leave him a note in the guestbook if you like.

thank you ALL ~ we have been overwhelmed with visitors, prayers, support, etc. I think the entire student body of Cedar Hill High School has been through here this week.

I'm saying a prayer for your family, and those families of the other people involved. It's a blessing that everyone is alive after an impact like that.

Thanks to everyone for the kinds words and prayers. Nick is still in the hospital this week, but is up using a walker a few times a day. Hopefully he will be coming home this week.

After we get home, my ONE focus after caring for my son's needs will be to get in the garage and get that '68 Fastback GT restored to immaculate condition so Nick can be the first to drive it.

Two nights ago I took Nick out to the Cedar Hill High School basketball game. He had a great time. The varsity boys and girls team were playing against rivals Duncanville. We rolled into the gym before the first game and the "Red Army" (Cedar Hill's very animated student body of Longhorn basketball supporters) all saw Nick and their faces just lit up! Everybody stood around him and started clapping. Many of Nick's teachers and coaches were also very happy to see him and came by with plenty of hugs and encouragement. They all said he is sorely missed in school and they are anxious to he him back roaming the halls of Cedar Hill High School.

Thanks for all the continued prayers and support. The power of prayer really works!!

Read his online journal and see more pictures at www.worleyworld.com/nick/

So glad that Nick's doing so well - he's been in our thoughts and prayers. It was nice to be able to check the webpage to see his progress.

Hope to see both of you at the Autorama...
