Pop Up Videos

Anyone else on iPhone getting pop up videos regardless of what page or thread you pick on? I have cleared all website data and cookies. Started happening a month or so ago and I have not seen it on the iPad.

Regards,
Patrick

Here is a screen grab. The link to the page remains VMF.

Correction, it seems to only be happening on the actual VMF forum and none of the others.

Had the same question myself. Very annoying. Only happens on the iPad.

Hey there

Does the video ever load? If so, what is it playing?

Are you able to 'long click' and 'copy link location'? Or does it give you any similar options?

Does this open as soon as you click on a thread/forum link? Or are you able to browse the page for a short time before it pops up?

If you go in to your browser history, are there any unfamiliar domains logged there around the sites domain?

Lastly, a bit more involved for mobile devices but would either of you be able to get the View Source code? Here is a link detailing how to do it: How to view webpage HTML source codes on iPad / iPhone. No app required. - Apple Toolbox It's for Safari but it should work on other browsers too - which browsers are you using when this happens? And does it happen on other browsers?
I'm not sure that would give us any information on the video, but worth a shot since it's showing our domain.

Thanks guys. Sorry for the trouble. We appreciate your help in getting these sorted out.

Video loads and plays. This week it has been SB related. Prior to that it was something else.

Happens as soon as I click on a thread topic.

Have not tried to click on the video. I will when it happens again.

Only use Safari on the iPhone/iPad.

Didn't check website data prior to clearing.

Hasn't happened today.

On a side note, as of today when I select Mark Forum as Read...it actually does it. Whereas up until today I had to leave the page before it marked all the threads as read.

Patrick

It's back. Here is the link to the page that pops up. As you can see, this is just a thread link on the VMF forum. It can be any of them.

4 Speed rebuild kit ?

Hey there

The video itself links to that page when you click on it? Or do you mean that it shows up on that page?
Were you able to try 'long click' on the video to bring up the menu where you would be able to 'copy link location' or similar (if it's available)?

The video shows up when clicking on any random thread. Even though the link in the navigation bar is the thread itself.

I did the copy link from the long click on the screen and it just copied the link back to the post.

When it pops back up I'll see what the drop down menu does. I did try clicking the video itself, but nothing happens. It just plays the video over and over. This week it is a Planters peanut commercial followed by a Chevrolet commercial.

Patrick

Well...now it's happening on my iPad as well. Everytime I click on the VMF forum page now it goes direct to a commercial video. Don't even have to click on a thread now. Link in the header remains as the VMF forum.

Trying to dig into this a little more and I'm not sure this will help. This morning I cleared all website data again. Shutdown phone. Restarted. Went back into settings to double check. Still empty. Op Ed safari, went back to settings...still empty. Went back to Safari and straight to VMF website and logged in. Went back to settings and here is what loaded.
