Forum redirected to new page (Ad)

Seriously, what the heck? I have never been a part of a forum with so many problems with advertising. It's a good thing there's great content, because this is a lot of BS to put up with. At least the administrator is responsive, but it would be better if there weren't almost constant issues with aggressive advertising in the first place. In case you can't tell, I'm frustrated.

I was reading a thread and then all of a sudden the page disappeared and was reloaded to a Charter Internet survey landing page.

I didn't click anything or take any action. Hell, I wasn't even touching the mouse or keyboard, and I was whisked away to this stupid survey that automatically started playing audio too.

Thank you in advance for any action you can take to make sure this doesn't happen again, but can you give me any indication that you guys are working to prevent this kind of thing in the first place? Once again, no site or forum that I am active on has ever had as much trouble with this kind of thing as this place. Ever.

Maybe that's what I need to do. Philosophically, I don't mind ads because they contribute to the ability of any site to function (monetarily) and I respect that. It's how aggressive and frequent this junk is on this site that gets to me. Maybe I just need to say F it and side-step ads altogether.

You can use an ad blocker and pay for a subscription to the site. It's what I do. It's cheaper than your next order from CJ.

Hey Richard,

So what is done to try and keep this garbage off of the forum? If you read my above comments, this place is consistently wrecked by aggressive advertising. How do things work on your end to ensure that this kind of thing doesn't happen again?

Just so you don't have to read between the lines, what I'm looking for here is some sort of reassurance that you guys are actively working to make this place ship shape, not just patching the thing with popsicle sticks and duct tape.

I'm not an expert, but I play one on the internet.

The pop-up ads you are seeing are not site advertising, but rogue popups. Once they are seen and reported by the members, we block them from being seen again.

As this can also be a malware issue, we suggest doing a malware clean. MalwareBytes is whats hot in the streets these days.
