Default Thinking of switching to a different forum site - this one is SO SLOW!!!

Anyone else have a preference on other sites? StangNet, etc?

Sometimes it takes over a minute to change to a different page!

I'm almost positive it has to do with the advertising.

I know that is how these sites are able to stay up, but someone needs to look at the code or something - other sites don't have this problem...

Maybe you should take it up with admin so they can collect more details and troubleshoot instead of just throwing your hands up and dragging them through the mud. The site is lightning fast for me. Work computer, home computer, mobile devices, all are fast fast fast. I've been on other forums and this one is the best for lots of reasons, but mostly the people on it.

I get a few seconds of "stall" after all the ads load up. Other than that, all is good.

I know what notny41 is saying. On my work computer it hangs after the banners for a bit, and in fact won't run at all using IE, have to use Firefox but I know we have tons of security measures checking every connection on the internet. On home computer it's fine with Safari. I suspect it has to do with how much security verification is going on with your computer and of course how old your system/software are.

Weird... I'm on the slowest connection in the modern world (like 1.5 Mb/s) and this site loads fast. Admittedly, I have ad blockers running on my Chrome browser.

This site may load slow for you (not me), but the other forums are S..L..O..W, as in no one posts very much...ever. Unless you are reading the thong thread or political thread, but the actual mustang tech, motor, exhaust, etc. portions of the site are like glaciers. I check in every once in a while and it amazes me how old some of the posts are (compared to here where there is lots of action).

No harm in joining, I'm sure lots of folks are members of other sites, but none of them come close to the action this one gets, some quality folks and knowledgeable folks, sure (some of the same people), but not near the number of knowledgeable people than share their wealth of information on a daily/weekly basis for others.

Better to fix your computer experience...the forum experience is the best here...unless you want to curse, post pictures of girls in swimsuits and bash the government...its pretty much strictly about the mustang here.

I find the site nice and fast from all the locations i use it from.

Check you PC"s antivirus to make sure it's current and up to date with the latest AV signatures, you could have a virus. Also, I suggest running an anti-malware program like malwarebytes, to keep out any stuff that tries to slow down your pc. Check you bandwidth speed and bandwidthplace.com, if you have a slow connection to the internet your connection to this site will be slow too. Clear your browser cache OR try a different browser like Google Chrome, I find it nice and fast compared to IE.

I have a few sites like that, it is usually the modem needing reset when I get that issue on any website. Try doing a reboot on your modem and router and you may be surprised. Also, see if you can run a trace route and email the results to the admin of this site.

I have tons of issues with this site, but whenever you say them out loud a huge mass of people says "Not happening to me, must be your computer".

For instance, I had ads that were killing my browser before (pretty sure that was the case), only in the tab VMF was open.

Or now, I have to retry about 100 times to even log in! I insert my password, it says "thanks for logging in" or whatever, then goes to the forum pages as not logged in.

I haven't reported it because it seems like there is no administration on this site anymore - except to add new irrelevant ads.

Like many here, I also belong to a few different forums but post to only a few of them. I understand the frustration with this site. My work connection is super slow with it, likely due to the third party site checking my company does (the ads) but home is as fast as any site out there. But that isn't the sites fault.

Among the other sites out there, Mustangforums.com sometimes is just plain unavailable and as 66resto points out most other sites have very little traffic and are missing the knowledge that is represented here. VMF is my first choice for info and I check it and one other site far more regularly than any of the rest. I see some of the same folks on those other sites that I see here and when I can recognize their member name, THOSE are the posts I read first even on THOSE sites! While things can change over time, there is no better site than VMF now.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><o:p></o:p>

Again, it's an isolated issue and you should report it. I've never had an issue with ads crashing my browser. Ads are what keep the site free. And if they're irrelevant, then it may likely be because of who you share your computer with or what purposes you use your computer for. Some of the ads are based on other sites you browse. They are served based on what they think your preferences are. But if your wife and kids also use your computer, you're bound to get a grab bag of ads. I tend to get a lot for hotels because I work in the hotel business and spend a lot of time on hotel websites. They don't really impact my experience on the site whatsoever.
