My 67' vert originally had deluxe steering wheel which is long gone now. I have a few question on these wheels. Who is the best in the business to have them restored by and what can I expect to pay? I like the wheel but I am not crazy about the horn button. Will other horn buttons fit this wheel? It seems like the options for a real wood wheel are limited to the cheap looking grants or the extremely expensive Shelby wheel or am I missing something?
For aftermarket, You are missing the MotoLita/LeCarra wood wheels as well as Nardi and Momo
As far as restoration of the plastic "wood" deluxe wheels, that is definitely a cottage industry with a limited market. I suggest check out ConcoursMustang Forums - Index to see who the concours folks use.
Is there more than one manufacturer for these wheels? I had one installed several years ago when having some other steering work done -- should have done it myself but was strapped for time -- and the wheel warped, cracked, and lost the dots within about 18 months. The cracking and lost dots, I can deal with. But the warping makes the wheel odd to hold.
I want to replace the wheel, but I'm having a hard time discerning if there are options. Also, I think that I've seen a few ads for bare deluxe 67 wheels, which would be good for me since the rest of the hardware is fine. Any suggestions or advice would be more welcome.
