Was courious about what wheel options there were for different trim levels in 1964-65 only stangs. A code. D code C code GT. 6cyl. All of them. For example..My A code 65 vert has magnum 500 wheels. We're they factory equipped? Another question for me personally aside from the thread.. are worn ugly original magnum 500 wheels worth more or less that brand new knock off magnum 500 wheels? I'm thinking about swapping them out but want to know.. if it's worth selling them vs scrap. Ugly isn't the word.
For non-Shelby Mustangs, available wheels for 1965 were:
The stamped steel wheel with a full wheel cover was standard.
An optional 'spinner" cap in the center of the full wheel cover was optional.
Simulated wire wheel hubcaps with center spinners were optional.
Chrome Styled Steel wheels with a center cap were optional.
Optional wheel treatments were stand alone options not connected with the Pony interior, the GT equipment group or another option package.
Sweet thanks! Maybe il do just that. Restore them. I'm very surprised to hear they are original 65 wheels. The car has alot of things that have been altered over the years (it sat in a field from the 80's till 2012 when I got it) but who ever had it changed alot. Motor and heads don't match each other or the car. Born auto. Now is a 4 speed. Has GT rear valance and duals with H pipe and trumpet tips... and other things.. surprised the wheels weren't the first to go. ... Unless it was born with the trim ring versions and the person put on the current wheels
The all-chrome version of the wheel was used until 10/1/65, then they switched to the trim rings.
Clean them with a soft bristle car wash brush and Lime-Away toilet cleaner. Brush it on, leave a few minutes, then rinse and gently brush clean. Repeat until they are clean and bright, should take less than an hour for all four.
Nice ok. Thanks for the advice! As soon as I get it back from the body shop I'm going to try that. Any cautions? Will the lime away damage my concrete driveway? Or the tires?
